I have the same feeling. I think we'll go 2-1 in non-conf, and then hope we can find 4 conference wins. I'm banking on both Kansas schools, Tech, and stealing another along the way (Baylor?... Texas?)

Anyways, I figured I would put my predictions for ISU and see what people on CF think.

Sep 3 (UNI). ISU - 20 UNI - 7. I think our offense will struggle in our first game with a new QB. The score seems close, but UNI never threatens to win.

Sep 10 (Iowa). ISU - 21 Iowa - 27. This game is much closer than it has been the past couple of years, but I think Iowa's running game will be too much. Our offense will play good, but not good enough.

Sep 16 (@ UCONN). ISU - 28 UCONN - 20. Our offense looks good for our first road test, and we come up with a big win.

Oct 1 (Texas). ISU - 17 Texas - 31. Texas remembers what happened last year, so they wont take us for granted. We keep it close in the first half, but the talent gap is too much and Texas pulls away in the second half.

Oct 8 (@ Baylor). ISU - 35 Baylor - 31. Not much defense in this game. It will be a shootout, but Griffin and the Bears fall short at home.

Oct 15 (@ Mizzou). ISU - 14 Mizzou - 28. Offense struggles against the Mizzou D and never threatens enough to give ISU a chance.

Oct 22 (Texas A&M) ISU - 17 Texas A&M - 35. Tannehill and the Aggies are too much for us to handle.

Oct 29 (@ Texas Tech) ISU - 38 Texas Tech - 31. ISU ends a two game losing streak and wins a shootout in Lubbock.

Nov 5 (Kansas) ISU - 35 Kansas - 13. ISU strikes early and this one is never close. ISU helps Turners seat get even warmer.

Nov 12 (@ Oklahoma) ISU - 14 Oklahoma - 42. Another blowout to the Sooners on the road.

Nov 18 (Okie St) ISU - 24 Okie St - 35. ISU comes out fired up, but the Cowboys offense is too much.

Nov 26 (@ K-State) ISU - 31 K State - 21. ISU needs this one to be bowl eligible, and they get revenge on KSU for what has happened the past couple of years.

Final record. 6-6, 4-5 in the big 12.

Bowl bid: Meineke Car Care bowl in Houston on New Years Eve against Northwestern.
If you do this every year, what is your track record??

Inexperienced ISU offense, the ISU TD scoring drought against the Iowa starters continues for another year.

We have NEVER had even a close game against Baylor in Waco. We just don't handle the heat very well.

Texas Tech is pretty good at home. Can't see us beating them there.

Watch out for UNI, a loss in that game could put the entire season in serious jeopardy. That is why I'm not crazy about the UNI series. I think 5-7 is probable with 6-6 a possibility.

If we can't beat UNI then we probably won't beat anyone and will end up 0-12. UNI is just going to be an average FCS football team this year and an easy win.

Um really? Never? We smoked them in 2000 on the road and beat them in 2004 on the road also. We have only lost to them once at Waco in the last decade. I do still think that that will be a very tough game this season.

I agree with you bro. I see a lot of people that think they will handle Iowa and get a victory, but some people doubt you can handle Baylor? Or beat Tech? This is Paul's third year and should be his best so far with what he has back. Raise your expectations guys, you should be a 7 or 8 win team this year. Anything less than 6 is underachieving in my opinion.

I cant remember past last year, but last year I predicted ISU going 6-6 just like this year. My best prediction was having Nebraska vs. Washington in the Holiday bowl, and my worst prediction by far was having Iowa vs. Oregon State in the Rose bowl. That one was just awful...

Can't blame anyone for being optimistic, but damn y'all got a tough draw this year with conference games. Ku is the only should win I see. Road games are tough regardless.

To the hawkeye, we averaged 35 points per game in conference last year. Never less than 24.

I think you're a bit optimistic about how many points this offense can put up, but I think as far as w/l's you're pretty close, I just see us having to play in some ugly low scoring games to be competitive. The tough part about this season's schedule is our "easier" conference games are generally away from JTS. I think thats a bonus in some ways but when you're as unproven as we are on offense its tough to see us going on the road and winning. If we had Baylor, Tech and KState at home (or a proven QB)I'd think those games were locks but on the road I think we'll be lucky to win any of those games, but i think we can steal atleast 1. I also think we beat UNI and KU at home for sure, and I have a good feeling about the UCONN game because of the style they play. As far as the rest goes, I think we'll be outmatched in every game but will win 1 game we probably shouldn't. I have us at 5-7 but I don't think a bowl game is out of the question, especially if someone stands out at QB.
The only bigger turnoff than finding out a woman smokes, is finding out she's a Husker fan.

Except for that bowl game where I watched Baylor, who should have been one of the most motivated bowl teams in the country last year, get walloped by Illinois. How many points did you score on their average defense, again?

Silly me. Forgot an individual game is more representative than a season of games.

To pseudo answer your question. Their lines were much better than ours. They controlled the clock. Less possessions plus some bad turnovers. No other team committed to run it down our throat like that. If ISU can do that, more power to ya.

Debbie, thats really not optimistic at all. Also, if you think we are going to beat Oklahoma State then we are going to beat just about everyone this year.
