Anyone consider that maybe the coaches want the players to be with their friends outside of football and spending more time watching game film and hanging in the learning/help center working on grades than playing video games all night and watching TV blowing off the day at the FB facility?
I consider this move a better selling proposition to parents of recruits than specifically recruits... Do you want your kid to learn engineering or how to get to level 32 in some video game.
Just a thought,

Wow, these renderings look cool and I'm glad that Substance is doing the design.
I just have one questions though;
WHERE THE **** IS THE PLAYER'S LOUNGE???

WHERE THE **** IS THE PLAYER'S LOUNGE??? **** your players lounge, I wanted a full apartment-style living complex, with parking stalls for each player and their girlfriend(s), plus training table - all attached to the Bergstrom, with tunnels to Jack Trice, and central campus/ Hixson. 21 million is a lot of money, and if they wanted it, they would get it. We need to compete for recruits!!!!
Substance are badass designers. Guarantee the built product will impress. with, or without players lounge.

Re: Official: Regents approve football facilty
There IS something to 'lounge might get some players', and there seems to be some logic to 'coaches/players didn't want one', as I agree that if it was wanted, it would fit. Here's how these go together:
Lounges would get players like Clarett, Pryor, Bush, and similar. Cash gets them, flash gets them. And right now, Iowa State won't get them, even with flash or cash, we're the underdogs. Right now we need the coaches to go out and find the guys who have potential but were looked over, and have a chip on their shoulder and will work their *** off to shove it in the naysayers' faces after punching them in the mouth (getting off the bus). Ipads in the locker room won't get those guys. I'd argue a pile of wood, a splitting axe and some wedges in the corner might get them better. If we get to the point where we can get the guys who are lured by flash and have the dash, we can add it. Couches and TV's aren't hard to add later. However, if we get to the point that we're luring guys with flash, we need to make darn sure they know what flash is allowed, and what will get a coach fired, a QB out the door, and possibly an entire program in deep doo-doo.
Nope, I don't need a lounge.

Re: Official: Regents approve football facilty
On another note, I laugh at those who say "if they wanted one, there is money for a players lounge.". Maybe so, but you don't know that for sure.
The folks involved in these projects collectively spend thousands of hours agonizing over the budget. At a point in every project, you have to draw a line - no matter how small an item it might preclude. It's a value proposition.
Im not against anyone having and voicing their opinion about stuff they know very little about. Just be prepared for others of a different perspective to have an opinion on your opinion.

No in my world Paul Rhoads said he didn't want a lounge and the money could go somewhere else, like equipment, or weight room technology or something that, you know, helps develop players. Of course it was pulled out of an ***. 500K builds a pretty damn nice house so by my estimate, it would probably take care of a lounge.

It'd be funny if it were JB or JT since they're UNL grads.

If there was $25 million available, would Rhoads have "wanted" a players lounge? Yes or no?

OR, They did work on it, and they sabotaged us by leaving out the players lounge that will allow Nebrasky to get our recruits!

Re: Official: Regents approve football facilty
it blows my mind many people still argue on the internet over pointless things like this... you would think after 5-10 years people would realize it just makes them look like complete ****** bags
There wasn't enough money for the lounge? There was enough money, but that money was designated to go to more program beneficial aspects of the program? who the **** cares?

CPR: "We'll need a players lounge."
JB: "You don't need a players lounge." *waves hand*
