A little late for that. And frankly, I never saw Hill listed on the original Rivals 250. Just Darboh. I saw it the first day it came out. I think this is a bit of urban legend.

He's a big in-state committ for us.
You guys do realize that Rivals is working their way down through the rankings, and is already through the 5.6's?
Re: Rivals updates commits' ratings
Hill is a 5.5 3-star.
Doesn't matter what they are as long as they can come in and contribute.
Re: Rivals updates commits' ratings
As above:
Barkley Hill - Yahoo! Sports
Maybe he'll go up before February.
Re: Rivals updates commits' ratings
This is the first time we have ever had our first 4 recruits all rated higher than 2-stars. CPR is doing a great job evaluating talent and offering early. Hopefully the staff can hang onto all 4 of these kids and keep reeling in the talent.
I'm not sure what is going on over in IC but they only have 1 committ so far which seems to be lagging for them. Any ideas Hawk fans? Small # of seniors? Targeting higher rated players that they have to wait on? Just curious if there is any concern or if they have just changed something in the way the evaluate and offer kids.

Well, either that, or Rivals simply said, "Hey, if they have schollies this early, we might as well rate 'em with three stars!":skeptical:
Re: Rivals updates commits' ratings
Could be. I have to correct my earlier statement. I actually went back and looked at some of our other classes and I believe in 09 our first 4 recruits were 3 stars. There were probably other classes but I am to lazy to look back much further. If I remember correctly I do not believe all of those kids were given there rating this early in the process. It just seems like we have improved the talent we are bringing in if you look at ratings and offers/interest these kids are receiving. I believe Luke Knott is the only kid without other D1 offers and it sounds like that definately would have happened if he would have waited to committ.
Re: Rivals updates commits' ratings
It does seem a little slow with last years haul. I know Kakert did some research and since 05 or 06 we have averaged 3 commits through this time. I am not worried, but it is a bummer losing so many battles this year for some of the top players on our board. That is what a underachieving year mixed with a little rhabdo situation will do.
Re: Rivals updates commits' ratings
I think with a bunch of camp offers coming out you will see a few in the coming month. I personally want Iowa to offer Rogers, Shaw, and Harrington instate. As you guys know, those instate kids will always be the heart and soul of the program.

I saw that Harrington just got an offer from Kstate. I'm wondering if ISU (or Iowa) will offer, ISU had him at camp but didn't offer, yet.
Outside of the top 3 (Darboh, Hill, Rogers) the state seems to be a little down. Maybe its still just early, or maybe its that both schools are going to be taking small classes.

I would put Keevon Bernstein in there with those three, especially Rogers. He's underrated and a guy we could use.

I think Harrington may down the line if ISU and Iowa miss on some WR recruits. It seems we both have a lot of kids that are higher on the board than Harrington. I bet there will most likely be a few senior surprises like always. I really want Iowa to offer Rogers at Safety or Corner. There is nothing worse than seeing a talented kid from IC go to Ames because we waiting to long....no offense. Here is my Top Five
1. Darboh- It seems like a pipe dream at this point.
2. Hill- I would love Iowa to land him, but the early bird got the worm.
3. Rogers- Iowa City Kid...offer Hawks
4. Harrington- He will have plenty of options by signing day. He is a burner.
5. Shaw- The Bettendorf kid will be a Hawk if offered.
I base my opinion on rivals clips alone. I have never seen any of these kids live.

I wouldn't put him in the top three. I would put him with Harrington in the next group, though. Both could be very good players, but the staff still has better options out there.
I'm pretty sure Rogers isn't really an Iowa City "kid". He grew up out of state and his favorite team is Ohio State. I'm curious why Minnesota or Michigan State hasn't offered yet. I'm starting to wonder if he might be an academic risk (pure speculation).

I think he was only listed as a soft verbal because he hadn't visited campus before he committed. He has since visited.
Re: Rivals updates commits' ratings
Either way being from Iowa City holds a lot of weight. A lot of pressure to stay with the Hawks if offered. Even tho he may be "not" a life IC native it is still important to keep people out to IC. First Gannon and possibly Rogers.

I think that before it's all said and done, the Bevins kid from Creston will be right up there. My rankings:
1.Darboh - I think most agree he's going out of state.
2.Hill - He seems safe to ISU at this point.
3.Rogers - I don't have a good feeling about getting him to ISU regardless of whether iowa offers.
4.Bevins - A HS wrestler with a great frame for the DL.
5.Harrington - KSU offer...I kinda assumed he was 1AA, but I guess not.
6.Bernstine - He has the talent, but does his background scare people away?
7.Kilfoy - I like the way he plays and would be happy if ISU offered.
8.Shaw - Probably the best LB in the state, but will he get any BCS offers?
9.Ferch - I would guess a preferred walk-on or JUCO like his brother.
10.Godfrey - The TE from Sioux City could make a good OL down the line.
Weird seeing the in-state talent heavy on skill positions and light on linemen.
