Chizik talks about leaving ISU in book
Gene Chizik Talks About Messy Departure from ISU | KCRG-TV9 | Cedar Rapids, Iowa News, Sports, and Weather | Local
Chizik said he told Auburn athletic director Jay Jacobs that he didn't want to agree to an interview unless he was a serious candidate for the job. Chizik also expressed concern if news leaked about him showing interest in the Auburn job, it would cause trouble for him in Ames.
"I don't know what it's like to cheat on a spouse, but on the ride over, I imagined the feeling had to be similar to what I was experiencing at that moment," Chizik said about his mixed feelings shortly before speaking with Auburn.
Chizik wrote that after his first interview with Auburn, he was convinced he wouldn't get the job. And, after news of his talk with Auburn had been leaked to the media, Chizik left Jacobs a phone message telling him he was bowing out of consideration.
Chizik told Iowa State assistant athletic director Steve Malchow of that decision and boarded a plane back to Des Moines. But when Chizik landed, he got a text message from Jacobs to call him back.
When he did, Jacobs offered him the job.

Most arrogant person alive? You told everyone you were "all in" and then bolted Gene. You wish Pollard would have handled it differently? You might want to look in the mirror. **** you.

If he didn't, he wouldn't have interviewed and he wouldn't have left. He says it right there. He thought he was out so he tried to withdraw to save face........until it was offered and he left. I don't blame him for it but it is what it is.
I'm on Twitter too: Tre4ISU
Or so I have read. -

I do blame him for talking bad about ISU while he was here (which led to the 'firmly entrenched'), and i do blame him for playing along with Auburn's dirty program.

I seriously am not defending him in.the least bit, don't get me wrong.
I do wonder What jp would have done had there been a meeting.
I am glad he's gone, i am 110% behind cpr but this book may shed some light on how he left, we all know why he left

I don't remember this (my bad memory, not questioning whether he did it).
What did he say?

What did he say? Rumors were surfacing about how he was telling some of his coaching buddies (I think the source originated out of Oklahoma State) that he regretted taking the ISU job.

And I don't blame Chizik for leaving for his dream job, I blame him for ******* sucking while he was at ISU. Don't hire your fishing buddies to be the coordinators at a BCS program.

That text message from Jacobs may have saved our program.

one side of the story. Told by him in an effort to make him look like a nice guy. I'll wait for the whole story.
