Basketball I'd say we have a MUCH better shot than football.

Rhoads and staff probably would have won the North with those squads.

All it takes is one down year for some of the powers. There are a lot more unlikely things that have happened in college football than ISU winning a Big 12 title with Rhoads at the helm.

I wouldn't go out and say we will do it, but it sure as hell isn't impossible, or anywhere near impossible.

Iowa State will NEVER will a national title in football and probably never win a conference title. Anyone who acutally thinks there is more than a .0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% chance has a serious disconnect from reality.

Whats reality? A team from Boise Idaho beating the almighty Oklahoma? What about little TCU handling Wisconsin last season in Rose Bowl? You want reality? Reality is college football is becoming more even from top to bottom and obviously the Ohio States, Auburns, and USCs of the world have to cheat to try and continue their dominance when the little schools are catching up.

It could happen, but each win would more than likely have to be by the skin of their teeth, like Ohio State in 2002. A lot of bounces would have to go ISU's way and they would probably have to lead the nation in turnovers. That said, it is possible and yes they would be in the national title game with a perfect record from the BigXII. It could get tricky though if there was a 13-0 BigTen team and a 13-0 SEC team.

There were numerous posts above yours that implied that ISU had a better shot at a championship if there were a playoff versus the current BCS system. You appeared to make the most complete/effective arguement supporting that same belief - that no new champions will be crowned with the BCS - so that's the one I quoted. After re-reading it I understand that's not exactly the point you were making.
