I wish DMac the best, he will have much more talent to work with than he did here.

Exactly what are you basing this on?

Re: Coach DMac on Rivals.com homepage
He will be surrounded by better prospects being in Texas, but UNT will not be a more attractive place for recruits than a Big 12 school like ISU

Re: Coach DMac on Rivals.com homepage
LOL, McCarney has his work cut out for him. and UNT getting better talent than ISU? What a joke. That said, I am tempted to go to a few UNT games this fall since its right up the road. I want to see their new 30k seat stadium also. I've already been to the Pita Pit in Denton!

Re: Coach DMac on Rivals.com homepage
Just think, if he would have had the sense to bring in D-1 caliber FG kickers - we would have one or two Big xii Championships and all this turnover stuff would have been a bad dream -- never will understand the love for the man who took us to mediocre, but was too dumb to understand how important special teams were.

The 2005 D insists we should have won that game but DMac went "next year" ******* off some key seniors. Ended with a huge divide between upperclassmen D and an O worried coach who was stupidly looking to 2006 rather than beating TCU. And ended up losing the team the next year................ he blew it.

Danny Mac took a program with one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel to respectability and five bowl games, winning two of them. When DMac took over from Walden, the football program replaced K-State as the worst in the Big 8 and bottom ten, if not bottom five nationally. To take the worst FB program in the Big 8/Big 12 and later on challenge for divisional titles speaks volumes about the man's drive to succeed. Perhaps he did lose his players at the end of his tenure, but no one can discount what he accomplished at ISU with the smallest budget and some of the worst training/practice facilities in the conference. The respect DMac has in this community is well deserved.
