Athlon Sports CF Picks
Athlon's 2011 All-Big 12 Team | AthlonSports.com
Don't know if this has been posted yet.
Picked
#63 nationally, #8 in the Big 12
Also includes Pre-Season player teams:
Quote from WalkingCY on the ISU page link: 5-4 record heading into the Nebby-CU-MU games last year and finishing 0-3, and a big time blown opportunity to beat Nebby again should leave a sour taste in the Cyclones' mouths. This team has the talent to make some noise this year but will have to prove very early by playing iowa and UConn in the non-con. If ISU somehow goes 3-0, and it can with the defense that they have this season, they can make Big 12 teams take major notice.
Go Cyclones!

Re: Athlon Sports CF Picks
I think 7th. I think we finish behind (in no particular order) Texas, A&M, Oklahoma, OSU, Missouri, and either K-State or Baylor.
Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice? Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this. -

Pretty good and fair assessment. I'm really excited to see this team play.

Re: Athlon Sports CF Picks
1st place National Champions and here's why.
We have a new QB in either Jantz or Tiller. With one of them we will set the new record for points in a season. Our defense will not allow a touchdown except for when we are beating Iowa 77-0 so we can say their TD doesn't count.
Rabbit will win the Heisman and CPR will be COTY.

Re: Athlon Sports CF Picks
It's refreshing that one publication has actually done some research into ISU's football team to the point where it can actually credibly state the team's strengths and weaknesses instead of the ever popular blindly picking ISU to finish in last place because, well, it's ISU. I have no disillusions that we'll finish in the top half of the conference, in fact, I think we'll finish near the bottom. But for once it's nice to read something that explains why they think ISU will finish where they do instead of the blanket "ISU sucks".

Re: Athlon Sports CF Picks
This year for some reason, I feel great. Really haven't felt this good about the upcoming season since '05, which was a team that had tremendous upside and talent heading into that season. Obviously, many on here felt that team under-achieved, nonetheless, they had a decent year and made a bowl. I just feel that CPR is our classic coach for the future. His first two seasons show me that he expects to win and challenge anyone on our sched. Winning big games on the road for once also gives me some nice feelings of accomplishment for once too, where no other coach in recent history was ever able to do that... Make no mistake, beating Nebby and Texas on the road is no simple task...and our Cyclones played like champions on those weekends. I look for more of the same this year out of Paul's Cyclones. I think the problems we have recently had on O will change with the new QB Steele Jantz... It is just that sometimes a fresh change and a new opportunity sometimes is the way to go. I am getting a "Seneca" feeling over this guy and some major excitement on what can happen. I also see Tiller getting in the mix at WR too. Getting that Austin Flynn feel back to the O. If he truely is a winner, he will find a way to get on that field. As for backup QB.... Barnett might be showing that he can fill that role for now and take over as an upperclassman in two years. I like the challenges of the first 3 non-con games too. You must remember, we were a 5-4 team last year that DID NOT FINISH. 0-3 finish with a blown game against Nebby and left plenty on the table against Mizzou. Our guys have to respond to that...I know I would. ISU will be hungry and ready to go at the begining of the season. I expect 3-0 from this team. This is the year for CPR and staff to get it right with the iowa game. They are a very beatable team this year and it is in Ames. CPR must feel "sick" about how we have performed in each of those games and losing should NOT be an option at all this year. I expect a great rivalry game in that one though and iowa will be ready for that one. UConn has a new coach and staff, if we head in there with a 2-0 record, or a hard fought game against iowa in which we lost....I still like our chances to win out east. We need to be on the positive record side when heading into conference play.
Then, who knows? This team has a tough challenge ahead of it. I really like our chances against: KU, K-State, Tech, Baylor and Texas. The other guys...it will take a major effort, but I believe in CPR.
Time to get amped for the season. Expect to win. Follow this team and believe. It is time for ISU to become a major player in the NEW Big 12. Kickoff just needs to get here!

Re: Athlon Sports CF Picks
I've got us finishing 6th, behind OU, A&M, Mizzou, OKie St and Tech. I think we go 5-7, just miss a bowl game. If the skill positions on offense come around this team is good enough to make a bowl game but for me theres just too many question marks at this point. I do see the growing pains on offense this year lead to big things next season, the schedule is much more favorable in 2012 and we'll have a lot of experience coming back.
The only bigger turnoff than finding out a woman smokes, is finding out she's a Husker fan. -

Re: Athlon Sports CF Picks
I think we can finish as high as 5th and as low as 9th. Splitting the difference I picked 7th. I think we are up there with Baylor, Texas Tech, and Texas (new coordinators and we play them early in the year). I think we are for sure better than KSU and Kansas.

Re: Athlon Sports CF Picks
I had a hard time deciding between 2th and 3th. So I chose 6th.
