2005 Cyclone Classic

On Cyclone.com they have a video of highlights from the 2005 season.

Just watching that video, it really is a shame we finished 7-5. That was a very talented team. I would love to have some of the play makers on this team that we had on that team.

Forever will be the year that wasnt... Im still convinced this team could have beat Vince and Texas in the Big 12 title game... simply because we were very good at shutting down mobile qbs... Mcneal from A&M, Smith from Missou, Vince from texas would have been next on that list.

That was a great defense. That season still bothers me. SHould have been much better than it was. Really had a chance for a breakout season there.

It was, but what really got me was the offense. We had weak spots, but we had a lot of play makers who would go get the ball, break tackles and make the play. That offense had talent, minus the coordinator.

Right now the only balls our receivers can catch are if they are right on and/or wide open. I hope that is changing, I miss having a good passing game!.

I watching that video just reminded me how much we had and how far we have fallen since then. I completely believe that Rhoads is going to get this going again, but we really are not as talented as we have been in the past- just more heart.

A couple years ago I compared our 2005 team to our current team at the time (I think it was 2009 season). I don't really have the time to do that, but I would be interested on how this year's starting lineup compares now.
