Forgive me if this has been posted before...but I had never seen this picture until today: Good times on Hawkeyenation.com after the 2010 Wisconsin Game! -

That picture says "propsed." It wasn't ever like that, was it? I was negative 13 years old at the time.

Blows my mind they didn't just build it like that initially.

Yes, I know it was a concept...just playing a bit on the title.
Most concept pictures are different from what really gets built. If you want proof of that, go look at the concept for Kinnick or Oklahomas stadium.

I'm glad it didn't end up like that. Each section in the upper deck was an independent structure. If you think noise escapes easy now, that would of been worse. Plus cross winds would be terrible in there too.

I will never understand why that wasn't done, or even just half of it.

I'm sure this guy is a member here.
EDIT:
It now appears that all the photos in that stream are gone...guess I ruffled a few feathers by posting this...

IMO that looks absolutely goofy. The upper deck is all separate sections, the lower bowl looks like some makeshift high school stadium dug into a hill, there is a single story pressbox by the looks of it. It looks straight up corny.

A question though for you old timers...Clyde Williams Field...did they move the stands for track meets or would the runners just run under them?
