Andrew Logue (Des Moines Register) Dave Zawilinski (ABC 5) and me are the only local media members in town. Thin pickens in this economy.

It amazes me that KCCI, WHO, KXNO and the local ESPN radio station (shows how much I listen to them) can't at least line up an affiliate reporter to cover the Big XII conference (at least from an ISU angle). Paying a local sports reporter can't cost that much.

"They are pretty hard to recruit against anyway," Briles said. "Back over the last 12 years, they've averaged 10 wins a year. That's a fact. When you get in the recruiting world, fact matters. If they can do that and there is a need for it and people are going to pay for it, then more power to them. Let them have it. I think that it helps the Big 12. If we have to recruit harder against Texas than we'll do a better job."
