But but but, if we drop the iowa game, our strength of schedule will go down the tubes! -

Relative strength means nothing if no one will pay to watch it...
The truth hurts sometimes. Exclude the A&M/UT and the footprint takes a 15M+ people hit... That is disastrous to any TV deal.

If texas left, i believe the other 9 teams would be strong enough to be their own conference, and TAMU, Baylor, TTech would be strong enough to hold the Texas market.
The problem is, IF texas ever left (and thats a huge if), it would set off other dominoes. If UT was independent, that gives TAMU the political cover to jump to the SEC like its always wanted. OU probably goes with, maybe OSU and Mizzou too. Then its everyone left scrambling for exits.

And Texas is the lowest rated of those teams

Agreed, I think your D will be tough, especially with Lattimer back in the fold.

Whose is the toughest schedule?
Has anyone calculated strength-of-schedule based on this ranking to show how ours compares to others? It has to be one of the toughest.

I get that Martinez is faster than *&^%, but he throws like *&^% too. Nebraska doesn't stay in the top 25. I don't think it has anything to do with Martinez, I think it has to do with Bo Pellini. I don't know if any coach has done less to receive recognition. I think Nebby gets beat up in the B10 this year and those that picked them to win the B10 are on crack.

I hate to say it, but I see Nebraska doing pretty well in the Big 10. I don't see them losing early, and with tOSU having issues, the media will be looking for a team to latch on to. Their Defense will put a smack down on most of the teams in the Big 10 imo. And they'll easily jump up. If nothing else, the fact that there is no great team in the Big 10 this year opens it up for a game of epic proportions when Iowa and Nebraska play at the end of the year. Over all, I don't think the Big 10 is as tough of a conference as the Big 12 was. And Nebraska was built to compete in the Big 12. Believe me, I hope I'm wrong, I just don't see a team coming out of the 10 that will play for the NC. This actually gives Nebraska a big advantage in not taking losses.

Re: Preseason USA Today Coaches Poll Released
So after seeing this....
Here is my pipe dream special:
We beat:
UNI
Iowa
@UCONN
TEX
Win 1 game out of @BU, @TT, @MIZZ
KU
@KSU
7-5+
THEN:::::
Iowa loses to:
@ISU
PITT
@Penn St
NWestern
Mich
@Purdue
Meet Nebraska for the Hero's game at 5-6 (game means nothing for them and lose) The game sucks on ABC and nobody watches.
@Nebraska
Iowa finishes 5-7
Then Nebraska loses to:
Washington
@Wisconsin
Ohio State
MSU
@Penn St
@Michigan
So NU would be 5-6 going into the Hero game. So NU blows Iowa away and they go 6-6 and get a bottom bowl.
ISU goes to the Holiday
NU goes to the Houston and gets beat by a Big12 team
Iowa Stays home and a total meltdown occurs....
Iowa State is Breaks the Top 25.
Donor steps up after season and gets the south endzone done.
This would be my dream
Thoughts?

Make sure you don't call the charge. But make sure you call the foul on the scrum....
