wonder if it has anything to do with Pompey's surgery?

regardless, I hope he has success

I was wondering if that position switch would take place.

I like it. 6' 3" 275, if the staff sees the agility to play to d-line he certainly has the frame.

    Re: Oni Omoille switching positions

nice! I kind of expected it. From what I remember of articles and recruiting sites, he has a mean streak which is perfect for a DL brawler.

Plus, 6 OL were redshirted last year, along with what would appear to be 2 more this year. Good opportunity to develop young talent on the DL.

At 6' 3" he has got to be one of our taller DL in a while.

YES!! The second I watched his video I thought he had a fast enough first step to be a very good DL for us. I think he has big time potential

Coaches made this call back in Spring practice. I ran into one of the ISU coaches in a restaurant in the Twin Cities (he was on a recruiting trip). During our conversation I asked him what they learned from Spring practice. He shared this was the best o-line they had since this staff came. He said the d-line was better but not as far along. He mentioned this switch with the player to Dline. Said his high school coach said he made a mistake only playing him one way. Said he would be a great o-lineman, but had the kind of athleticism needed on the D-line and depth was needed there. Said he agreed as long as he got to use an additioal schollie this year on another olineman.

I'm excited about the future depth that CPR is building on both lines. If Omoile redshirts this year, we'll have the potential for a couple of darn good redshirt freshmen DTs next year in he and Pompey.

Darn good might be pushing it considering he has zero D-line experience. He'll be a project. He has the frame, but it will come down to his responsiveness to coaching.

Anyone else drooling at the thought of Omoille and Pompey as our future anchors on the dline?
