? for CW, or anyone in the know, about Steele Jantz
I was wondering if CW, or anyone else, might be able to say what Steele Jantz's relationship with the other players on the team is like?
From an outsider looking in, for some reason I get the feeling like Steele doesn't have a lot of friends on the team? Is that way off base?
People have described him as quiet, maybe even shy, and kind of different (in a California kind of way, not a bad way). Some WR's on the team have called Jerome Tiller "their QB".
So I've gotten the feeling that he's some kind of outcast kid that nobody really gets along with. I'm sure that's not the case, but I was just wondering if someone in the know could expand on how the other players treat Steele, whether it seems like he has a lot of friends on the team, etc?
I know this is a pretty stupid question, but I think it does go a long way towards being the starting QB whether or not you get along with your teammates and have their respect or not? It has to be really tough coming in as a JUCO and you don't know anyone, and all the fans are hoping you're some kind of savior. I wouldn't think a lot of players would be very receptive of the "new guy" that all the fans immediately want to crown as the hero?
I hope I'm totally wrong on this and he gets along great with everyone on the team. It sure would help things if indeed he did end up being our starter that he got along with everyone ok.

He's been here long enough now I'm sure he has made some friends.
Just win baby

I've gotten similar vibes. I usually see most athletes just out and about on campus or wherever and he's one I havn't seen. Hopefully he's just studying tape.

Yeah, I just can't imagine a tougher situation to be in for a player? I just hope the players have gotten to like him and respect him. It seemed like Steele did a great job, from everything I've heard, about trying to just fit in when he got here and not be too outspoken, etc.

There always has to be one idiot in every crowd, doesn't there?

Even if that's the case, I would think the team would have a hard time hating him if he was the guy helping them win games. This is just trying to stir the pot.

It would be pretty tough when your the new guy on a Big 12 football team. I would think having Horne around has made it easier. I bet he is making friends with receivers, linemen, and the backs though.

I think the coaches brought in Horne to make the transition easier for Steele. I bet they couldn't be happier with what they've gotten in Horne?

Horne looks like hes potentially our best WR. Money is the other one, hes the guy Jantz should be targeting as his next "friend".

And no, I don't want to stir the pot. I just want to know what Steele is like around the guys on the team. Does he seem to fit in? Does he get along well? That's all. I hope he does. I want them all to get along well. I just think it has to be a tough situation, that's all.

I realize you guys care and are just trying to figure things out.Thats great.
From what I've seen of Jantz at workouts and such is that he's the new guy trying
to fit in.And lately he has been.
Kinda reminds me of my last year when another California QB came on and everyone said the same stuff."he doesnt fit in"..."Noone knows him"..."the recievers like the other guy"...ect. That kid was Bret Oberg.
He turned out pretty good.
Just give the qb candidates there chance.

Money was the ONLY player that I know of that publicly wrote "going to work out with MY qb Jerome Tiller" on his Facebook. It was an inside joke. Don't read too far in. He is very close with ALL QBs and says nothing but good things about Steele....no worries!
GO CYCLONES
This is how we FINISH STRONG!!! -
