Keith Blanton leaves football program
Paul Rhoads just told media members that WR Keith Blanton Jr. has left the football program due to family reasons. Rhoads said that Blanton needed to be closer to home. Details coming.

Quote from Rhoads on the matter:
"He has got some personal matters back home, some family issues and he thought that it was important that he got back to the state of Texas and closer to home to handle it."

Good luck to the kid, but he was clearly a recruiting miss and was buried on the depth chart. I don't blame him, might as well go somewhere closer to home where he can see playing time.

Was he actually a Chizik recruit??? I think the depth that we have add for players that have come in after him makes it difficult, I think the receivers that have come in after fit Herman's system probably better....

He was a Rhoads recruit, but it was CPR's first partial class and Blanton was a late signee. Rhoads actually did a pretty decent job with as little time as he had, picking up Knott, Sims, Reynolds, Lattimer, and Tau'fo'ou. Mims never made it, and Blanton, Capello, and Moore have left. Jennert, Scott, Watson, Woods, and Brooks haven't shown much yet, but they're still young with the exception of Brooks.
