The coaches are obviously trying to build depth to the point that we don't have to rely on true/rs freshmen to play a ton unless they are that good. Most likely why they recruited Simon and now have moved Caspers.

Re: Caspers to DL?
True about Jensen being a rs freshman and still a little light to play much interior d-line. But I didn't think he was athletic enough to expect much of a future for him and the spring game changed my mind. With some more weight I think he has a chance to be a big contributor for us someday.

Totally agree and think he will be a big contributor down the road, maybe even still this year but I feel like from Coach Shane's interview, he is a ways out yet..... I really hope Caspers sticks, need at least 4, 5-6 is preferred against running type teams that we play early on (UNI, Iowa, UConn), into the conference schedule we may be able to work mor 3 man fronts like we did against MIZZ....

Re: Caspers to DL?
Sounds like our staff is searching for anyone to fill holes. This is the second player from o-line to move over to d-line. We need a solid d-line with depth to compete this year.

Good DL are hard to find, so depth will always be an issue at ISU.

How is Walter Woods height not listed at 5'9? that dude is SHORT!

Re: Caspers to DL?
I wonder if Caspers' weight loss has anything to do with his move to the DL. Maybe they were planning to move him all along, but just had to trim him down some first. Unless his weight was just way off when we recruited him, he went from a 6-5, 295 recruit to 6-4, 292 on last year's roster to 6-5 277 this year. He was listed at 280-something on the spring depth chart.

Re: Caspers to DL?
In an odd coincidence, if Caspers stays on defense, this just might clear the way for Oni to start at a guard spot next season, with Hayworth Hicks graduating.
