    Re: "The Corn Cup"

Enough with the corn already. Farming may be a part of Iowa but it has nothing to do with the football rivalry between Iowa and Iowa State. The only reason it has become part of the trophy is because the sponsor wants to promote its own organization over the game.

The NC trophy isn't a giant soda can and the Orange Bowl trophy isn't a giant orange. Floyd of Rosedale wasn't created by the Iowa Pork Producers and the Telephone Trophy wasn't started by AT&T.

Make this thing a Governor's Trophy, a Trice-Kinnick Trophy or just keep the one we have.
I completely agree with you. "The Corn Cup" idea is all about Iowa heritage and would have worked no matter who sponsors the in-state rivalry. It's just a traveling trophy with cool name that reflects our agriculture roots. The idea of this trophy stands alone IMO, the fact that it fits nicely with the Iowa Corn Growers is a bonus.
