Re: Player Profile: Rob Standard
One of my favorite players before he even plays.....looking forward to big things.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: Player Profile: Rob Standard
One thing I did notice is that all of those plays in the highlight reel was out of the I formation. I wonder since we run almost exclusively out of the gun if that will cause problems with him adjusting to our offense.

Didn't he break a lot of Montee Ball's records in Missouri?

He looked pretty good in the limited film we saw of him in practice so I would think he is adjusting. I think he redshirts this year and gets even more time working with the scout team and really getting acclimated to the college game.
I'm wondering how they will juggle Standard and Nealy in a few years. Standard seems to have more of a feature back makeup. Nealy looked like a great athlete in HS film, but we will see how that translates at ISU.

Re: Player Profile: Rob Standard
he looks a lot more like stevie hicks to me. and its not just cause of the dreads either. he has great vision and great moves, but lacks top end/breakaway speed. Or so it appears on the video.

Does anyone anticipate Nealy moving to the slot?

Re: Player Profile: Rob Standard
I'm a big Chiefs fan so I'll throw out this example. Chiefs were using LJ as the main guy(Standard). Then Charles was more of the third down back(Nealy). Same thing last year with Thomas Jones and Charles. I think that is what we have here in the future. But we will also have Shontrelle Johnson for a few more years too!

Re: Player Profile: Rob Standard
I like around the 55 second mark a wr goes in motion to crack down on, I would assume a de or lb, and then you see him on the ground... Standard is also bigger then the full back... He looks good but I kind of question the competition...
But stats are stats and he put up some BIG numbers!!!

That was fun and it's not as easy to think of something that innacurate as you might think.

Re: Player Profile: Rob Standard
I really just don't see him getting much time in the next 3 years. I think he'll get a little time, but its going to be hard to near impossible to beat out Shontrelle.

Shontrelle Johnson will not be healthy his whole career. Besides that, they are different players. IMO Standard is like Duck except slightly better. He is a true Running back. He can do it all. I don't know that he will catch many balls and IMO, he probably won't be a featured back because I think Nealy is the most well rounded guy outside of Johnson. Having said that, I don't know that we can afford to not have Nealy on the field for three years because he's a RB and I still think he finds time as an "all-purpose back," if you will. I think we will see him at a lot of different spots.

The nice thing about having multiple, quality backs is they can split snaps and stay fresh. We haven't really had the luxury and I foresee the staff utilizing it.
