New trophy, New life to CyHawk?

I have to believe with all the publicity and with fans voting for a new trophy, that the ISU/Iowa game has to have new life. A few months ago, we were pretty divided about whether or not to keep the game at all. Now with the trophy controversy, nobody is talking about canceling the game. We have all shifted focus on keeping it going with a new trophy, but does all of the single mindedness go away as soon as somebody loses?

Maybe we have all been duped and ICGA is a brilliant mastermind swiftly giving themselves a huge amount of national publicity and keeping the Iowa State/Iowa rivalry going all under the ruse of looking like complete idiots. When you want people to stop fighting each other, give them a common enemy. They are probably lighting cigars right now and laughing at all of us.

It's probably more of a law of unintended consequences - by historical patterns (see the races at Newton) I'm not convinced there resides enough brain power at ICGA to scheme up something as devious as what you suggest...

This sounds similar to the theories of New Coke being planned all along to fail and thereby bring esteem to Coke Classic.

I'm more inclined to believe the Coke story than this one.

I predict the game ends after 2017 agreement (if not sooner) if the current conferences trends continue. Too much pressure for cupcake games for the non-conference with 9 game conference schedule.
