Iowa State was also included in that also. This reporter just didn't mention us. don't read anything into our omission in this reporter's article.

Re: ***OFFICIAL IOWA STATE TO THE BIG EAST THREAD***
I don't think recruiting will take the hit that many think it will take. If you look at our recruiting list, the majority of players are from Florida. Right now, we don't have any teams in Florida in our conference. If we go to Big East, we will have South Florida and most likely be adding Central Florida. Also, the other big state is California. The biggest issue for recruits is whether they will be on TV and have a chance at the big bowls. We will actually have a better chance of going to a BCS bowl in the Big East than the Big 12. Plus, we will still have a Texas team in our conference too and maybe two if Baylor joins also.

I think Mizzou will be the 14th team in the SEC.

I don't know what's going to happen. I want Big XII to survive for many reasons, not just the fact that it's the best option for us.
Imagine how we'd all feel right now if Jantz didn't become Mr. Clutch with 5 minutes left.

If the schools in this league would commit to each other, it would be very viable.

Memphis only had 23K, but they play in a large stadium (Liberty Bowl) and it would be an upgrade, but this would be a basketball move for them.
Scheduling-
FB - 2 8-team divisions - play 7 games in division and 2 outside. rotate the outside games every year, so you play each team every four years and play at each location every 8 years.
BB - 4 6-team divisions - play 10 games (home-away) in division and play 1 other division (6 games) each year. Rotate the division you play. You will play each team outside division every 3 years and play at each location every 6 years.
Tournament - Seed based on division finish because of unbalanced schedule and also can help ensure that you play team from outside division in tournament. All 24 in tournament for 7 day tournament. Either quadruple bye or traditional format.
Here are divisions:
Big East Football
East
Syracuse
Connecticut
Rutgers
West Virginia
Pittsburgh
South Florida
Central Florida
East Carolina
West
Louisville
Cincinnati
Iowa State
Kansas
Kansas State
Baylor
Texas Christian
Memphis
Big East Basketball
Northeast
Connecticut
Providence
St. John's
Seton Hall
Rutgers
Syracuse
Mid Atlantic
Pittsburgh
Georgetown
West Virginia
Villanova
East Carolina
Cincinnati
Midwest
Marquette
DePaul
Notre Dame
Iowa State
Kansas
Kansas State
South
Texas Christian
Baylor
South Florida
Central Florida
Louisville
Memphis I'm liking this as a good option if (when) the Big 12 finally dies.
Here's two none-football thoughts (not that they matter): So for a basketball tourney, would only the top two or three teams from each division compete? We'd be able to have a wrestling tourney that yields auto-tourney seeding. I'd finally be able to drive to some athletic events here on the east coast, although that would only matter to me for these next, final two years of grad school. -

Been reading the posts and finally decided to jump in the discussion.
Have something to throw out. I think the Big East would be a solid landing spot, but I dont think we want to move until it all explodes. I'm not saying we sit on our hands; I want to do it like last year. Let's have a backup plan in place with the Big East, along with our other North brothern, that says if the Big 12 dies, we go the the BE.
Let OU, OSU, TAM, UT, TT, and any others move first and have to pay a 20-30 million exit fee, take their money (looking at maybe 30 million to sit on our hands) and then walk to the BE and use the exit fees to make up the difference in B12 to BE payments until a new TV deal is worked out. This only works if we have the backup planned locked in though.

I'm sure we may have a story in court though. We've been expecting some BIG TV money.

Little off subject, but what was with Rice's bands SEC march at the Texas games halftime?
I'm not trying to be difficult, it comes naturally.... -

Do you really think that the schools leaving for the Pac 16 and SEC are going to give all of their TV money from this year's TV contract to KU, Kstate, ISU, and Baylor? I'm pretty sure Nebraska and Colorado didn't have to write a check to leave, they just didn't get their share of last years TV money.

I'm sure we may have a story in court though. We've been expecting some BIG TV money. I'm sure this will bill looked into closely. If it takes 5 teams staying to keep the conference going, the Big12 can still withhold money from the teams. ISU KU KSU MU BU can delay their official moves a year if that's what it takes. BigEast would be happy to accommodate timing.

KU/KSU/ISU to the Big East. Do you think the Big East would also look at Baylor? It would give the conference a second presence in Texas, give TCU a league neighbor and Baylor brings very good b-ball programs and a decent football program

Not easy to find 25 more games to play in that short a period of time..
I could definitely see lawsuits though.

Is it realistic to expect these teams to pay the exit fee? Seems like all they do is file a court petition, then negotiate away the fee. No University is going to pay 20MM.
