Steels
this was his starting job no matter what Tiller could or couldn't do. This kid could be fun to watch. when he steps up and throws, he's decent. add in the running and he will keep us on games.

Re: Steels
o-line and weather played a big roll in his throwing performance. looked good running it though. i see him hooking up with horne alot this year

Re: Steels
He found a way to win. He was sketchy at first, but we had a QB step up and win a game for us when our defense and O-Line was abysmal. We haven't had a QB do that for us since Seneca.

Re: Steels
he looked horrible on more than half of his throws. he did make some very nice plays with his legs though. but he's not that accurate. fun to watch doesn't translate to good for the team.

Re: Steels
He had some really rough spots, probably part nerves and part cobbled-together o-line, but he did what it took to win. He definitely can run the ball well and make plays with his feet, and he really came through when he needed to.

Re: Steels
When he had time to throw, he was very inaccurate. That third interception was beyond embarrassing. However, when the game was on the line, he stepped up. That is something Tiller was not capable of doing.

Re: Steels
Our O-line sucked tonight, but a W is a W and Jantz will get better.

Lol I wasn't comparing his playing abilities to Seneca at all! He did not play well at all. I was just saying when the game was on the line he stepped up and made plays. That hasn't happened in a long time.

Well, I just hope he calms down is more composed or it's going to be a long year. If UNI can rush 3 and get to our QB we are in trouble. If Jantz throws that many interceptions we are going to be in trouble. He was overthrowing a lot and made some bad decisions, but he had flashes of greatness.
Here's to hoping we got our bad game out of the way for the year.

Now on run plays it was a different story, we couldn't do anything, but as for pass protection he was fine. He was really bad at first, but in the clutch, he made the plays and throws he needed to and won us the game, that's for sure. We also need more people who can tackle besides Klein and Knott, we were getting gashed up the middle all game, their QB couldn't throw the ball at all, but he could run, and we STILL couldn't stop them. Our D line was abysmal. I think once Steele settles in and stays in the pocket more, he will be a good QB for us, he looked very jumpy tonight and tried to run and force plays too often. The OC called a lot of passing plays, and that leads me to believe Steele has the stuff, and this was just first game jitters. We have a LOT we need to work on as a team before next week, but I'm confident we can surprise some people.
Also not to mention Steele had a throw placed RIGHT into a receiver's chest, and the receiver tipped it right into a UNI player's hands, that should be a passing TD and not an int, so you can take that int out of his stats IMO, the other two were pretty unforgivable though.

Re: Steels
Yeah we sucked all around. But a W is a W.

Re: Steels
keep... are you just gonna make a single spelling error in every thread you start tonight? Do we still use the sarcasm pirate? I haven't posted in a while.
