Why don't we drop UNI
Let's just drop the UNI FB game....
not because of the competition on the field, lord knows they come to play, but simply for the one reason....
I'm sick of dealing with Iowa fans two different weeks during the season, and now it's back-to-back weeks! Every UNI fan is an Iowa fan and every Iowa fan becomes a UNI fan when we play them...

Re: Why don't we drop UNI
Im no fan of playing them, but its one of our best selling tickets, so its not going away soon.

Re: Why don't we drop UNI
I don't think we play them next year.
“I told you, I don’t care if you’re black or white. I don’t care if you’re rich or poor. I don’t care where you come from, whether it’s Texas, Florida, California, or right here in the state of Iowa, I don’t care about any of that… But what I did care about is moving forward from that day on, that we were one team." -Paul Rhoads -
Re: Why don't we drop UNI
Too big a gate to not play them. We just need to learn to come out and pound them early and give them no life.

Re: Why don't we drop UNI
As outright opposed as I have been about dropping Iowa, strangely enough I'm not that opposed to dropping UNI permanently (or at least not playing them 2 out of 3 years). If the goal is to schedule an FCS team to play a "warm-up" game before the season, why play an FCS team such as UNI that is better than a lot of FBS teams out there?

Re: Why don't we drop UNI
I disagree completely with the OP. In-State games are great, I love the rivalry and there are just as many UNI fans that wish us the best of luck against Iowa.

I'd like to see ISU schedule WIU, EIU (E. Illinois, not Iowa ), SIU, Missouri St, etc.

Re: Why don't we drop UNI
LOL this thread is funny.
Correct, next year we do not play UNI. Instead, UNI plays Iowa and Wisconsin.

Re: Why don't we drop UNI
I think technically "gate" means money, so the gates are likely bigger against Iowa, but the UNI games have had higher attendance.

Except that UNI sells tickets and given our current financial situation we need all the ticket sales we can get.

I know the in-state event is the good for the gate and it's not going away, my point was that I'm sick of the two fanbases.

Re: Why don't we drop UNI
No way. We just need to recruit players and coaches that can beat an FCS team like UNI soundly.
