Ferentz Quote on the Jack
Every now and then I creep on to HN.com to feel better about myself and what not, and their frontpage story had this quote from KF
"... It’s loud. Ohio State has 100,000, we have three stadiums with 100k plus in the Big Ten, but it’s every bit as loud at Iowa State. That defies logic. It’s always an eager and excited crowd when we get there."
Makes me even more excited for this weekend! Time to Pack the Jack!

Re: Ferentz Quote on the Jack
I'm sure Kirk is just saying that to be nice, but I do think JAck Trice does get pretty loud at times.

Time to really turn up the six pack sound system and make the siren awesome.

Re: Ferentz Quote on the Jack
I agree that he is likely being nice. Can't imagine that the Big House is that quiet with almost twice as many people.
I also agree that the Jack is at its loudest during the Iowa game. The booos are also their loudest when Iowa takes the field, but I think Texas A&M will give them a run for their money this year.

Really the Jack could be louder then the big house. The way that stadium is built it doesnt hold in sound very well.

The Big House is built more out, than up. A LOT of sound escapes that stadium. Jack Trice is probably built steeper than the Big House, and Jack Trice isn't steep by any means.
PSU, OSU, Wisky, and Iowa are all louder than the Big House.

Re: Ferentz Quote on the Jack
Wait... I thought it was a high school stadium that nobody goes to. Kirk better check in with the mental midgets at HN to get his talking points right.
Actually, even if he is playing the media game, I thought it was a nice thing to say. I've got no problem with Kirk and I respect him.

All I know is JT was as loud as I remember after Lenz catch.
Only to hear it about as quiet as I remember just 30 seconds later.

As someone who has made a number of trips to the Big House, I can believe about any stadium can be as loud. unless you have walked into Michigan Stadium, you don't have an appreciation for not only how big the stadium is but also how huge of a bowl it is. The sound goes straight up and out of the stadium. OSU, PSU and Iowa all have stadiums that are built so that the sound shakes the stadium. I have been to a number of games at Jack Trice and although it does not get crazy loud, it is still a good and intimidating environment.
The Big House is a tremendous venue but the intimidation is not because of the deafining crowd noise. It is because it is such a huge venue and historically they have had a better team than most teams that come to play.

Re: Ferentz Quote on the Jack
I was at the Big House 2 years ago for the Michigan vs. Ohio State game and it wasn't loud at all. Maybe it is because the stadium should hold roughly 80,000 fans, but they squeeze 110,000 in there. I hated it. You had to stand sideways and look over your shoulder the whole time. My brother-in-law and I had to take turns during "commercial breaks" sitting down. The atmosphere is pretty cool, but other than that the stadium isn't the best.

What's with KF killing opponents with kindness this year? Tennessee Tech was such an experienced club and all.
