Sat with Duke and Laura Barnett tonight

Jared Barnett's parents sat with us during our Grandson's football game in Garland, Tx. It was Jared's old highschool.
They are very positive that Jared will get a chance sometime this year and he is very anxious to get started.
Jared and his sister, Megan, really like ISU.
By the way, my Grandson kicked 38 and 43 yd fieldgoals. 5 of his 6 kickoffs went beyond the back of the endzone for no return. The other was 5 yds deep and was run out a little.
    Had to get that in.

Is your grandson a senior? We are going to need a new kicker when Mahoney and Guyer graduates this year. Go get him CPR!
“I told you, I don’t care if you’re black or white. I don’t care if you’re rich or poor. I don’t care where you come from, whether it’s Texas, Florida, California, or right here in the state of Iowa, I don’t care about any of that… But what I did care about is moving forward from that day on, that we were one team." -Paul Rhoads

I believe we just signed a kicker for next year.

I've been very interested to see Barnett play, I like accurate passers. If he's called on, I bet he does a nice job.

One of the top kickers from the state has already committed for 2012.

Im excited for Barnett but he needs another year to bulk up, I hope Steele doesnt give reason for Barnett to get in this year.

So they are very positive Jantz is going to suck and we wont win another game while he is QB?

Seriously, Jantz is the guy...Barnett will get some backup work, I would assume, but this is Jantz's job unless he plays like absolute ****. Barnett will get his chance in a few years, and I really do look forward to that!

I think he meant that jantz may get dinged up over the course of the season and Jared may get some snaps that way. Arnaud was a tough SOB but even he missed some time to injuries.

I am sure they are just anxious for him to play. It does not mean they are routing against Jantz, or anything along those lines.....

Perfect. Because as we all know, highly touted kickers ALWAYS live up to expectations. Cough cough yelk cough.

If you knew the Barnetts you would know that they are rooting for Jantz. During Jared's HS career the team had a standing invitation to come over and eat the evening before the game. My wife and I helped with the food. Averaged about 35 players. Justin, Jared's Brother, gave a nice life lesson after the meal and lead them in prayer. Coach Barnett was very strict, but his players knew he loved them like a Son.
