Does anyones feel like the rivalry is a little mild this year?
I dunno, reading the various Cyclone websites and Blackheartgoldpants, I feel like the hate is a little less this year on both sides of the ISU/Iowa fence. The line on the game is less than it has been in several years, and I feel like we're in for a great football game on Saturday and not a blowout.
Still, I feel like the hate just isn't up to par this year.
Thoughts?

Everyone is just too busy worrying about the Big 12 right now to care about the game. It will be energetic tomorrow (when the non-internet people show up).

After the way the last few years has gone, with it being completely one sided, thats to be expected.

Conference realignment has killed the week. Gameday that will change!

Re: Does anyones feel like the rivalry is a little mild this year?
1. The future of ISU athletics has been lingering in doubt with all this realignment crap. That's a much bigger focus than one football game.
2. Iowa has curb stomped us the last two years. We're not as confident, Iowa fans aren't as worried (they talk more smack when they're nervous trying to play it off as confidence)

Re: Does anyones feel like the rivalry is a little mild this year?
Yeah, but I've been really distracted by the realignment saga. Hard to focus on football when your school's athletic programs are in jeopardy. And I think Iowa fans are taking the game lightly because a) Iowa's beaten ISU for three straight years, b) the past two years have been blowouts, and c) ISU REALLY struggled with UNI last week while Iowa cruised to an easy victory

Re: Does anyones feel like the rivalry is a little mild this year?
I think a lot of it has to do with all the other distractions besides the actual game of football. this holds true for the game in general this year, not just ISU/iowa. all the talk is about conference realignment, money, and all the cheaters

Re: Does anyones feel like the rivalry is a little mild this year?
It's not the realignment talk, it's the fact we haven't been competitive in last two years.

Re: Does anyones feel like the rivalry is a little mild this year?
The Hawk fans I know are confident that they are going to win easily based on ISUs poor showings the last two years. I am hoping that they are overconfident and ISU will come out and punch them in the mouth. We just haven't shown it lately.
The hate probably peaked in 2005 because both teams were doing good things and most Hawks were rightfully scared.
We need to put the fear back into the game this year. Then the hate will flow like waters.

**** the hawks.
Does that help?

Yea, the combination of two consecutive blowouts and the re-alignment BS has really killed it this year. Nothing a good competitive game couldn't revive.

The more rational hawks have also learned to play it cool. After 2005/2007, I haven't heard much from them pre-game.
