CPR did the same thing against Nebraska and lost in OT.

I was expecting him to do the same in OT today. The fact that he didn't tells me that he was very confident that whatever Iowa was going to do, Jantz could equal or better it.

Re: No excuse
hey herky boy,we should have beat you by 18 points. we did not because we had some stupid fumbles and many penalties. if we not fumbled on our first drive we would have kicked your herky butt royally. thanks for coming on our cyclone fanatic and commenting on the game. the hawks have a few decent players and the cyclones do ,too. i think our quarterback by the end of the season will win some games for us and i hope it opens up a pipeline to get some good athletes(recruits) from the san francisco juco college.
herky boy you just have to realize cpr is putting this young isu program together. hope u fellows win some games in your tiny ten conference. good luck to the herky team the rest of the season......

I liked the fake extra point, but we had the ball with over a minute in regulation and 2 timeouts and the wind and the home field and CPR decided to run the clock out for OT. It was a mistake. I think you can defend Ferentz decision a little more since they were into the wind. However with McNutt it was probably worth a long pass.

Re: No excuse
Good news for the Hawk fan, while trying to be polite, I can tell who's the better team. ISU. They played head-to-head and ISU had a higher overall score. Any other comparision throughout the year is just conjecture...

I'm fully aware that ISU should have won this game going away. I've said it several times in various threads tonight. The Hawks were outplayed and outcoached, there's no other answer to why the outcome was what it was.
Would having Bernstine and McCall have been huge for the Hawks? Sure. But injuries/illnesses happen, and it's not like we're already suffering from a ton of injuries. If we were missing 5-6 starters today, that'd be one thing. But the top subs at two positions? Not so much, even though Bernstine brings a certain attitude to the defense that would have been nice to see today.

Re: No excuse
There's no reason for it to go anywhere. The only people that think it's a "lose-lose" for Iowa are delusional Iowa fans that think America thinks much more about them than they actually do. Some idiot like Skip Bayless picks them as a darkhorse and suddenly Iowa fans think all of America thinks they're great. I always hear the argument "if they win, they're supposed to. If they lose, the country shocked and we lose credibility". The problem with that is, most of the country isn't shocked when Iowa loses to us. On the rare occassion when Iowa is highly ranked, sure, but not seasons like this season. I think most of America thinks we're fairly even teams. Not saying you or tm think that, as you two seem like logical and reasonable posters. Just the vocal minority in general. However, I really don't have the feeling that Hawk fans will be able to look back on this one as an upset.

It brings a good battle between friends and I, who go to the two schools. Its a big game for both schools, brings in money, gets the state talking about something, and usually turns out to be a great game, like today. I'm not sure its our "biggest" rivalry, because to me, losing to Wisconsin hurts more than anything. Just my feel. But its still a huge game and a huge rivalry.
