    Re: "ISU's Super Bowl"

Yesterday, sure it was my Super Bowl.

On Friday, UConn will be my Super Bowl.

Two weeks later, Texas will be my Super Bowl.

Hopefully, the team looks at it the same way.

Don't tell me ISU doesn't get more fired up for this game than Iowa - HawkeyeNation Forum
The Hawkeye forum post, with the post-game celebration video --- "Iowa would have rushed the field like this??'

I can understand interpreting it as more "meaningful" based on that.

But remember: There has never been a 3-OT game in this series, with an ending like.

Iowa fans (and coaches) certainly might have freaked out a little less, overall, but if it was at Kinnick and the roles and details were exactly reversed, I doubt Iowa players would have walked over to politely retrieve the trophy while Hawkeye applauded briefly, shrugged & said, "Ah, nice win!"

    Re: "ISU's Super Bowl"

If it's rushing the field they're complaining about, they obviously don't realize we rush the field pretty much after EVERY victory, proving that beating Iowa is "just another win" for ISU...

    Re: "ISU's Super Bowl"

Can't both teams accept the fact that we both get more excited for this game because we interact daily with people that cheer for the other team?

Think about it. No Hawk fan wants to return to work on Monday to hear the ISU fans bragging, and ISU fans are excited to brag up the Clones a little bit. We don't really get to interact with fans from any other teams the Monday after the game.

If this was the last game we win this year, I know 99% of Cyclone fans would call it a giant failure of a season. So, "Super Bowl" is definitely an overrated term, but every time an Iowa fan makes that excuse, aren't they admitting that care about this game more than others? Think about it.

Lets just admit that everyone (both teams) care about this game a little than the rest of the season, but still care about total wins for the season more than this one game.

    Re: "ISU's Super Bowl"

To preface - I watched the game at Johnny's HOF. Based on what I saw, I have to ask...

    Just another game, huh?

Tell that to the 6 piece Hawkeye horn section.

Tell that to the two guys in Hawkeye spandex, wigs, capes, viking helmets, and roller skates.

Tell that to the multiple groups of people with their witty little anti-ISU custom-made tees.

Tell that to the guys wearing Hawkeye kilts.

Tell that to all the Hawkeye chicks in naughty nurse-type get-ups (I'm not complaining, BTW)

Tell that to the bitter dooshes whining and starting fights after the game.

Tell that to the girls crying after the game.

Are you telling me they do all this every Saturday???

    Re: "ISU's Super Bowl"

I just want to comment on the

    Iowa state played outstanding today
No, I really don't think we did. We played pretty darn well, but not outstanding. Iowa isnt THAT good that we have to play flawless to win in triple OT. If we had played outstanding and Iowa played poorly, we would have won by 20. BUT IM NOT AT ALL SAYING WE SHOULD HAVE WON BY 20.

Iowa played outstanding the last two years and won big. ISU played poorly. Had they both played outstanding, it would have been closer.

Again, i am only really commenting on whether or not ISU apparently played outstanding -- and had they not, "they probably would have lost".
