    so what happened with the trophy

    did someone quote an espn guy saying it got broken? or did i missread something. was there even a trophy at all?

    Looked like the top broke off from the base. Watched it happen on TV.

    Considering the New Trophy Controversy in the last few weeks, you couldn't have scripted a moment like that (although it would've been more amusing if it had happened with the original family-corn-bushel version)

    HAHA, we were all surprised at the bar how easily it just fell apart. Maybe there were a lot of hands tugging at it, but on TV, it looked like the thing just slipped off the top. Seriously, even my kids cheap *** trophies have a bolt holding it all together. It obviously wasn't designed by an ISU engineer. "What do we do to stick the metal to the wood?" "Hmm, do we have any elmers?"

    I am thinking this would have worked for the original though. The losers have to take the family home and the winners get the base with their names on it.
