the article should be just about the big 12 then, not their collective thoughts on who should be the 64 teams. if was actually just the 64 most deserving schools current conference affiliation would not matter... fing dip wads...

16 is so stupid. You can't even play half your conference teams in football. Travel expenses are rediculous. Top level talent will get watered down...more and more teams will have more losses...meaning fan bases will get more mad....it may seem great now, but I think its a disaster.

I don't understand the purpose of 16 team conf.
It would basically be 2 loosely knit 8-team conferences.
Plus, what's to stop ND from not joining and still retaining a sweet heart deal with the "playoff" system?

Last one out, hit the lights. Lol. Rival's opinions to me are about half a notch higher than the people who post on ESPN conversation.

It's apples and oranges. As your previous post said, SEC, Pac-10, B1G aren't going to kick teams out.
If that were the case, Dienhart's list concludes with:
" .... here are the current Big Six members who didn't make my cut: Baylor, Duke, Iowa State, Kansas State, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest."
If that happened, well, problem solved — sounds like a solid unit to form a new conference.
One other note: Every list included Boise State, and most include UCF. I get the football-rules-all and TV factor, but if multiple schools from non-BCS leap-frog a school with longtime membership in trad. big conferences, something is seriously bonkers.

Re: Rivals thinks we will be left out of the BCS
The four super conferences is getting a lot of press. Larry Scott is the main person that is pushing this scenario. The question is can the Pac 12 or 16 or whatever dictate to the rest of College Athletics how to run their conferences. Is there an advantage in 16. No way to know. Would the SEC go to 16? Big Ten? ACC? Do they want to do that? I don't think so. Until the NCAA and BCS are circumvented for a playoff this scenario is unlikely. What other advantage is there to having a 16 team conference? TV Dollars? Maybe, but does the increase in TV dollars justify the increase in costs and stress on the Athletic Departments?
I have no idea how this is going to play out, but it is probably least likely that four super conferences will be formed and a playoff system created. The only way for that to happen would be for the NCAA to spearhead it, which they are unmotivated to do. I don't see ISU being left out. I think the worst case scenario is a reformed Big 12 with less bite, or the Big East. If the Big Ten expands to 16 I think that is a possibility, but the longer it takes the better. If we can have the new football facility, more on field/court success and expansion of the stadium ready that would be a better time.

One problem I have with all the speculation, as it applies to Iowa State being left on the fence: It's always selective.
* Good academics? Sports $ runs the show
* Longtime major conference affiliation? That doesn't matter anymore (unless you're in B1G, Pac-10 or SEC — then it matters)
* Geographic fit/natural rivalries for B1G? Doesn't add viewers
Several other examples in that vein, but you get the drift.
