94 plays against Iowa will do that. 77 in regulation.

Was it maybe something to do with triple OT? -

Seems our average was still in the high 70s on their graph. I think we will continue to be right up there, UNI game being an anomaly.
Crazy to think OU is running 100+

No huddle offense looks better this year. We do not have to look back at the sidelines as much this year.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

We're starting from the 41 on average (including the OT's. I'll have a complete conference rundown on my site tomorrow.

Huh? Isn't that why we have a high number of plays, because we have had so few 3 & outs? More time on field, extended drives = more plays. Did I miss something?

Crazy to think OU is running 100+ Not really... when your defense forces the opponent to punt after 3 plays virtually every single time they have the ball it gives your offense a lot more opportunities to have the football.... and when that offense is OU's they make good use out of most of those possessions.

FYI, ISU's opponents are starting at their own 29 yard line on average (Iowa's 3OT drives ARE included in that).

Re: IState top three in nation in Plays per game
Our offense has improved at every position except maybe running back. Although I would say our depth is better there than ever.
The additions of Jantz and Horne were huge, and our linemen and returning receivers (save maybe Darks) all seem to have stepped up their game.
I have to think that switching Messingham to WR coach has helped.
Our systems have been in place a couple of years now, and these coaches are getting their guys in, and they (the coaches) have gained valuable experience themselves.
