Realignment talk, impact on recruiting??
Does anyone think that all of this realignment talk has direct impact on why our commitments for FB have slowed down? I know if I was a kid even though I maybe very happy with a visit and willing to be committed to that school I might hold off with knowing that school has a possibility of being in a lesser conference next year.... T me it would be very hard for a coach to sell with that instability.
Sorry to be a Downer on the day before a big game.....

I suspect recruits are paying some attention as it is everywhere and some coaches are probably stooping to the level of using it against us, but realistically this typically slow down in commitments is likely attributed to the high school seasons getting underway and kids being pre occupied with their senior seasons. Later in the year when bye weeks and such strat happening we typically see more visits and commitments pick up again. Just my opinion.
Re: Realignment talk, impact on recruiting??
Season has started. Chances are likely most programs across the nation are now just putting effort into the recruits coming in for visits. The staff probably doesn't have much time during the season to actively pursue many recruits outside of Iowa.
Re: Realignment talk, impact on recruiting??
Maybe. Many recruits are looking at the school and academics as well as athletic opportunities. IMO, schools like A&M, OU, OSU all not playing in Texas as much will probably impact their recruiting as well. TCU plays in the BE. The uncertainty is impacting ALL teams. Not just ISU.
Re: Realignment talk, impact on recruiting??
Well Iowa isn't in the Big 12 and their recruiting has slowed quite a bit. I think it's normal for this time of year. You'll get a handfull of commitments during the season from players visiting and depending on how many schollies you have left to give, another handful after the season leading up to the deadline.

In an ESPN article today, they quote sources from Missouri that directly state it has had an impact on recruiting Texas kids, as Missouri is less attractive to them if they end up in a conference out east.
I think the uncertainty factor is probably the biggest impact. Recruits want to know who/where they are playing.

Yeah, I can't see how it's not a negative. How negative is up for debate.
