Knott must have ran 500 yrds in the game. He was everywhere.

Cardiac Clones, not for weak hearts.

Re: Williams: UConn report card
Chris you should keep a running total of helmet stickers for the year. Just a thought. My prediction is Jake Knott is going to run away with it. My only question is does he get two? One for himself and one for the defense?????

good read Chris, you need to add two thumbs down for the officiating crew that was world class horrible, or worse.

Re: Williams: UConn report card
Very impressed with the effort and play all the way around. The entire Defensive Line. Great pressure and a good job against the run. LB's were great. Knott, Klein, Ta'oofoo, stood out. Secondary played pretty decent. Some big plays against us. But overall pretty good coverage which resulted in a few coverage sacks. A for the whole defense.
Special Teams were solid. Very good coverage. Got one FG. And Mahoney was just short on a 53 yarder or so. Good punts and kickoffs overall. No worse than a B+ or A-.
Offense. Horrendous start. Could not get much worse. Jantz shook off his 0-4 with 3 picks start to finish pretty strong. Some nice runs. Some good passes. The Lenz-Reynolds TD pass on the trick play was a thing of beauty. We made just enough plays to win. C+ grade because of the horrendous start. Throw out the 1st Quarter and we get a B or a B+.
Officials get an F. Congrats to these officials for making the UNI game Refs look absolutely great. They called a late hit on Washington when the guy was struggling ahead for yardage. And let go of the late hit that a DL had on Steele when he was on the ground sacked. I thought they were pretty nit-picky on the PI calls on Reeves when the receiver was also jostling as they were going down the field. UConn receivers did a good job of pushing off that wasn't called. At least they didn't call Money on a couple though. Several horse collars and face masks that were not called. Saw several instances of holding on UConn that were ignored. And the ONLY penalty they called on UConn was the obvious offsides on the defense. UConn did not play that clean of a game. And the officials had me nervous as I thought they might throw a flag for a PI and let UConn escape.
Announcers were poor as hell. Definitely UConn homers.
White on White Uniforms get an A+ from me. I loved them with the Red Helmets.

Re: Williams: UConn report card
I was EXTREMELY impressed with the Defense last night. The way the O started, it could have easily been 17 or 21-0 to start the game, but they kept us in it.
The special teams were very good all around.
The O had a lot of issues, but scored when it counted. I feel like overall Tom Herman still hasn't been able to get on track. Certainly last night was a huge under-performance, with the O shooting themselves in the foot more than UConn was stopping them.
I think Herman has some very good talent to work with, but we still haven't seen anything near their potential yet this season.

If I never see that stupid flair pass to the WR again I will be happy. Something like that might work against Iowa but when a team has their DBs right on the line like UConn did, this play is destine to fail, as it did every time last night.

Re: Williams: UConn report card
Awesome read Chris!
Well it's really quite simple now... with all of our over-all success on Friday games (not to mention night games) I guess in 2 years, we schedule the hawkeyes on a Friday night. What an atmosphere that would be!
...as far as the Uconn game went... I'm still wondering if Jantz is going to be better protected in games to come. "O" line, this means you! (wink)

Re: Williams: UConn report card
Did anyone elses' heart sink on the final play when they showed the guys in the end zone waiting for the hail mary. 3 UCONN guys and 2 ISU guys jostling for position. Fortunately, it worked out this time.
Also, we beat UNI by 1, Iowa by 3 and UCONN by 4. 1+3+4=8, not 9.

Re: Williams: UConn report card
I personally thought our pass coverage should have been a '3 Down'. I thought the big plays were too many 4 our style of defense, Reeves seemed to be the on picked on too.....
