This realignment BS has to be killing our recruiting

I can't imagine what Rhoads, Hoiberg, Fennelly, and others have been up against in their recruiting right now?

How do you convince someone to come to ISU when we're not sure if we'll be playing OU and Texas next year.... or Western Michigan and Toledo?

There's plenty of teams in our position right now at least. I do agree that it has to be hurting recruiting. I know I would be concerned as a recruit. That's half the reason I hope things get decided soon.

I think basketball probably hasn't been hit to bad, especially since it looked like we'd be in the Big East if the Big XII folds, and that isn't a step down for basketball purposes.

But I think that regardless of the outcome we'll have lost a year of recruiting in Football. I can't think that any out of state recruits will give a lot of time to a school that might be a mid-major next year. And for in state recruits I could see us losing out to UNI for guys who otherwise would have walked on here and given us depth and a scout team in the coming years who instead take a scholarship to play there.

They tell the recruits that the media and message boards are for fun and entertainment and full of people with no understanding of the process or have their own agenda. Everything will turn out fine for ISU, one of the best Universities in the world.

It is. I know BF has had a hard time. Recruits keep asking what's happening and other coaches try to poach on them. We need this to end immediately.

I've been wondering about this as well. Is this why there has been so little talk of football recruiting? Or is this usually just a dead period?

We recruit to our school and to the prestige of a major BCS conference. Agree that the current siutation has got to be killing recruiting in the short term. A non-football example was the plus for recruitng the WBB gals from Texas was that their families would see them play in Texas for four years.

With the week off -- I'd expect some recruiting activity by some of the coaches. We are 3-0 with a bye week.

Recruiting wars have always taken place. It's usually "your coach may be gone in a year or two." I can only imagine how nasty it's gotten with all this realignment talk. So yes, I'm worried about our recruiting taking a hit, and am EXTREMELY worried about what'll happen if the Big 12 doesn't survive.

Don't know what's going to happen to the Big 12, but watching the big win over Iowa in front of packed stadium on TV and then winning again against UConn on the road after a short week had to impress any recruits that might be on the fence.

I'm really not sure if you are a Cyclone fan or not. EVERY thread of yours is negative. EVERY SINGLE ONE!!

With that said, it can't help recruiting. And throwing us in there with Western Mich and Toledo just reinforces what all of us already knew, that you are an idiot

Negative recruiting is part of the game.

    Rhoads can handle it.

    Hoiberg can handle it.

Rhoads is a seasoned veteran at recruiting. Hoiberg dealt with pro athletes. This must feel easy for him.

    Rhoads is building a base.

Hoiberg started building a base and this is his first year for results.

I wonder sometimes if these aren't fans but someone posing as one to hurts ISU. This is the biggest free ISU site and where potential recruits will come. Posts like the one from the original poster are either from nonfans looking to do damage or ISU fans who are too stupid to realize that constantly Posting their fears result in similar damage and only aggravate the problem they are concerned about.
"I'm proud to lead this program and this team in whatever we do. Whether it's a community service project, or through practice or winning a bowl game, but you don't do that without the kids believing and being all in, and going out there and accomplishing all [of] the goals and expectations that we set." - Coach Paul Rhoads
