There will be a huge drop off in # of fans going into the game also probably a drop off with the Gridiron club.

Don't get me wrong I'm a huge cyclone fan and have been going to the games cheering my *** off for the past 5 years but I will not be renewing season tickets if were in the MAC or C-USA. Just won't see me dropping money to see weak opponents after getting used to seeing Oklahoma, Nebraska, Texas and so on walk into JTS
You do realize these schools have only played in Ames three times since the B12 was formed (99, 03, 07)? I don't hardly call that "getting used to" walking into JTS. Granted, we have played OU many more times in JTS, but those were the days of the Big 8.

Thinking beyond ISU, how would these entities do without major college sports? I hate to be doom and gloom but the way things are right now some people can’t take much more. This is something that the people of IOWA should all fight for because it will affect you. Let’s face it ISU keeps a lot of people implode either directly or indirectly.

    1. City of Ames (surrounding city’s)
    2. Mary Greeley Medical center/ McFarland Clinic & all small rural clinics
    3. Hotels

    5. Grocery Stores
    6. City of Des Moines (Metro)
    7. State of Iowa

Sounds like my high school years! Didn't buy season tickets, but I did go to many Iowa home games, paid my $2.00 to sit in the south end zone ("knothole" section) and watched 'em suffer through numerous lopsided poundings (I thnk the total was 21 consecutive losing seasons prior to Hayden Cry). Was good comedy relief.

Re: What if ISU is not in a real major conference?

I've lived in KC for going on 9 years now, and I've had FB season tickets every year since moving down here.

ISU being "left out" would probably save me that $, as it would likely mean more games scheduled on weeknights to get TV time. I can't justify the cost of paying for NCC donation plus tickets if I only get to use one or two a season because I can't leave work in the middle of the week to make a game.

    Guys,

There are 36 million acrea of land in Iowa. if just HALF of that land is farmable (less roads, towns, forest) that leaves 18 million acrea.

If a surtax is added of $5 per acrea that adds to $90 mil annual.

It's about time the farm corporation started sharing the load.

You have been a very good business owner for about 8 years. The 9th year roles around and you just signed a HUGE contract with another company that will GUARANTEE you X amount of money over the next 10 or so years. All of the business owners, including yourself, got big time raises that were guaranteed in a contractual agreement.
You get happy and go out and buy a new car, because you've been driving around a POS car for 20 years. You also make a couple of household improvements that needed to be done. (new deck, new couch, and new flat screen tv) You do these things in the comfort knowing that your monthly paychecks will be X times bigger and guaranteed for the next 10 years.

Now, all of a sudden, the contract you just signed with that company is breached and that money is no longer guaranteed. You may even end up losing your entire job.

That is possibly happening to ISU on a much larger scale.
Why do you think Baylor, ISU and a couple other schools have not waived their rights to Sue A&M and the SEC? A lot of money was guaranteed and inked in writing, and now it might not be there.

    Excellent analogy.

With all due respect, you are a ****** *** fan. It seems to me that you aren't a Cyclone fan, you are a Big XII fan. I think you should change your username to reflect that.
