how many snaps do you all think he will play against Texas/how effective? i'm pretty pumped to see this kid in action. if he can play any meaningful snaps against texas it will be huge for us going forward. kids highlight reel was extremely impressive, i wonder if the reason he didn't have more offers was due to educational risk-he barely made it to ISU.

i thought an actual thread about football might do us all some good.

Would definitely be nice to be able to add him to the d-line rotation. I would bet heading into BIG 12-2 play the more able bodies the better. Nice change of direction on thread topics. It is sad that we have to deal with all the other stuff now, and not really enjoy this great Cyclone start.

Will he automatically move in front of Woods and/or Jensen? I think it is just as likely that those young guys start to "get it" if given more snaps. I was glad to see Woods in there to recover a fumble.

exactly. here we are 3-0 for the first time in what 6 years, and hardly a thread about it on the front page.

hopefully this guy proves as good as his highlight video. can always use able bodies on d-line. also, curious about casper. has he played a snap this year?

woods and jensen have both been pleasant surprises to this point. they were not expected to do much from the way the staff spoke preseason. i think burnham said something that neither was ready..

Having him and Pompey makes me feel better about next years DTs. One JUCO in the recruiting class would be great!

In an article, Shane Burnham asked the o-line what they thought about Simon. The lineman said that Simon was explosive strong. Check out the end of the article.

Didn't he get injured (or something like that) in the fall camp? He may redshirt because of that.

Yeah, it's not like Jensen and Woods are world beaters, but they are solid backups for young guys. If Simon can beat out those two for the fourth spot inside, he's a pretty good player. More likely, he's going to come in on passing downs to be a pass-rushing DT. I think that he could be effective in a spot like that...probably more athletic off the ball than any of our current guys, but maybe not as stout or physical (that's what I'm betting anyway).

Really bodes well for next year with McDonough, Laing, Simon, Woods and Pompey. I think that Kron cold eventually move inside. And Meyers would redshirt. They will have 3 SRs, so that's a little bit of a concern...either they grab a JUCO this year or wait and get one in 2013.

I'm thinking Simon will basically take Wood's snaps, and Woods takes Jensen's snaps

Clean up of his knee surgery from high school.

Interesting. I thought Jensen looked good in the Spring Game for a true freshman. He has potential to be an upper-level Big 12 DL imo.
