It's not a bad thing though. I honestly don't think we've gotten UT's attention yet. They will look past us to OU.
im really hoping they do. let them look past us so we can beat them for 2 straight years. that would help recruiting a ton and would let us get more good players that would let us compete with them every year instead of hoping to upset themQuote:

I can't believe he's telling his team to beat ISU by a large margin. Texas isn't Texas of the past. He would be happy with a last second field goal to win by one. This is a conference road game and Texas will struggle to win any conference road games. Look at it this way, this could be ISU's easiest conference game excluding KU. ISU's other home games are OSU and A&M, two teams that are quite a bit better then Texas this year.Quote:

I don't think we are on UT's radar either. The problem with UT is that they simply expect to show up and win this game. That is how it has always been and ISU beating them last season will have little impact on those players. It was a terrible year for them last season and they have won all of their games so far (against very weak opposition) so those kids are probably thinking to themselves that they are "back" and that they will crush ISU simply because they are so good. Had Texas lost that game to BYU I wouldn't give ISU a really good chance of beating Texas but because they did and are unbeaten I think we can catch Texas napping on ISU next Saturday.Quote:

I think this has statement game written all over it for the Horns. After a pitiful season last year, and a slow start this year, they are ready to show everyone that they are back on track. They seem to have their QB situation figured out and the offense starting to click. Now they have two weeks to get some reps in and roll into Ames ready to kickoff their conference schedule on a high note. I don't know that they so much have revenge on their minds for ISU in particular, just more redemption for their program as a whole. I can see them coming in and running it up. We can't come out slow in this one like we did with UNI and UConn.
When I said top schools, I didn't just mean on the field, I also mean in prestige. We used to be seen as the whipping boy for the conference (along with Baylor) for these schools to rack up easy wins on their way to the BCS. However, Paul Rhoads is starting to change that. While these schools may still overlook us, they will pay the price. BTW, I remember when ISU beat A&M (on the road) and Okie State in my freshman year (2005). And we gave Oklahoma quite a scare in 2007, and led them at halftime at home. I was so ****** we lost that game, OU basically gave it to us. But I think that we are on the rise, and the rest of the conference knows it.Quote:

Mack Brown can coach-speak all he wants. He has a bunch of freshmen, & they weren't part of the team ISU man-handled last year.
I've heard ISU fans talk about Texas (& other schools, like Nebraska), and when their players come out on the field, they are so much bigger & look stronger, blah, blah, blah. After looking at the 2 deeps, seems to look pretty even to me. Biggest difference is their DB's are taller. OL & DL look comparable (actually, w/KO & Hicks, our OL is bigger). Speed is another thing, but outside of Goodwin (do not believe anyone in the entire nation can match up with him) I believe we have upgraded this aspect from last year.
We need to get AK 47, Knott, & Tau'fo'ou in some shoulder pads with spikes on them and red colored mo-hawks with face paint. Rhoads' Warriors - like the sound of that.
UCLA looked awful. BYU - young & on the road @ Texas. This is our house, and they are the younger, less experienced team with 2 new coordinators. Despite the beatdown last year, Longhorns believe this to be a tune-up game for OU.

UCLA sucks balls. They lost to Houston and barely handled an embarrassment to college football in San Jose State. UCLA's defense is HORRIBLE. How do you go to the 4th quarter tied with San Jose State.... a team averaging 11.3 points per game? Edit... they also feel good about that big comeback win against BYU 17-16. They must have missed Utah going into Provo to play BYU and thrashing them by 40+ points. Texas has proven absolutely nothing so far but if you ask their players.... I bet you they would tell everyone that Texas Football is back.
Tejas right now believes they are back - not in the sense that a NC is around the corner, but they will beat all the teams that do not belong in the same building as they do (us, Baylor, TTech, KSU, KU), and they will be competitive with the big boys and hopefully steal 1 or 2 (OU, A&M, OSU) to start off the next McCoy/Shipley2.0 version of the Longhorns.
What I want to see: our first comlete game. Sure, we have had to perform 4th quarter comebacks in each of the first 3 games. Why? Turnovers & poor play (particularly in the 1st half), yet we have still won.
KO mauls Okafor/Jeffcoat (like he did in the Iowa game this year), offense protects the ball, passing is accurate, DL controls LOS (like last year - UT OL is not much different) & pressures QB, front 7 controls run (& especially the running QB they rotate), DBs make prevent big plays & come up with a couple of their own (picks).
Do this, we win by 3 touchdowns. Do this, the powers that be will really take note. ISU suddenly isn't some novelty, aw, they're perennially bad and they've had a good start - good for them!
Would really like to just hand their arses to them.
