College Gameday crew and ISU
I'm almost positive they've never been to Ames, but have they ever been to a location for a game we're playing in?

Actually, were they in Ames in 2002 for OU? Originally Posted by cyrocksmypants I'm almost positive they've never been to Ames, but have they ever been to a location for a game we're playing in? -

No - game was at OU and they were somewhere else. Lots of Seneca heisman hype in the show that day though.

Anyone remember what it felt like to see the #9 ranking before Iowa State Cyclones?

That's not good. Usually I remember these things. Kind of has old age scaring me now... Originally Posted by sp8815 No - game was at OU and they were somewhere else. Lots of Seneca heisman hype in the show that day though. -

We were there in Norman that day. No gameday but The WHO crew (Keith and Round Guy) brought their motorhome down. Covered it live all day. It was a blast until the game.... OUCH. But the tailgate was so much fun. We showed Norman how to tailgate ;)

That ISU team was the least ready for a big game than any other team I've ever seen. I don't mean from a coaching standpoint as much as just being ready for a big moment.

I agree with this. They didn't know what to do all game. Everything was bad. I was so disappointed after that 49-3 beatdown

And/or the following UCONN and Boise State losses...horrible ending to a great start. I have tried to block that season out of my mind

I'm not trying to be difficult, it comes naturally.... -
Re: College Gameday crew and ISU
TTU in Ames 2002 is still the high point of ISU football which is depressing considering how that season ended. I say we just go ahead and take care of fixing that this year.

Re: College Gameday crew and ISU
I remember Nebraska coming to Ames when both teams were ranked--not sure on the year, but I was stoked because it was the ONLY ranked game that week and I thought for sure they would come to Ames......instead they decided to have College Gameday in studio----ouch!

Re: College Gameday crew and ISU
OU scripted how to dominate ISU that day, everyone else we played there after watched - season was over. Seem to recall the plan was to designate 2 spies on Seneca and then see if ISU's other 10 could beat your 9, they couldn't and it was over. Very demoralizing, but fun for the few weeks leading up to it...
This may not be the year to get OU, but man it would be great to get that monkey off our back - Stoops has absolutely dominated ISU...and I don't like Stoops.

I say we just go ahead and take care of fixing that this year. The first half of that season was truly special. Beating Iowa, Nebraska and Tech and taking Florida State to the wire. Being ranked in the top 10. Seneca leading the ESPN Heisman watch. I remember after the Tech game thinking 9-3 at worst and a big bowl game in our future.
Then OU blocks the punt, Forrest tries to kick the ball out of the end zone and whiffs, OU recovers for the touchdown and it was all downhill from there
