Re: Williams Blog: Heavy hitters told Reeves he was too small

Reeves has given up at least 3 big plays where the receiver out jumped him or the ball was thrown a few inches too high for him. I'm afraid he may get exploited more in Big 12 play. Staying with his guy isn't a problem. Giving up 6-8 inches to a receiver is.

He's already got an entire big 12 season under his belt. If it was a serious problem we would have found out by now.

Re: Williams Blog: Heavy hitters told Reeves he was too small

He housed an onside kick last year, and I think he ran back a pick 90-something yards for a TD. He may lack size, but he's the best corner (plus Leonard) that we can put out there and all things considered has been a solid Cyclone player from the day he got here.

He's got the energy and speed to do some pretty special things (like the onside kick return), and gives it his best despite his size. Glad to have him on board.

He is one of the best open field tacklers on the team.

Re: Williams Blog: Heavy hitters told Reeves he was too small

How is Reeves proving anyone wrong? Don't misunderstand, I'm a fan and he's been a good player for ISU. But Oklahoma and Texas are not kicking themselves for passing on him. They have corners of equal or greater ability who are also several inches taller. Which was the gist of what they told him back in h.s. No one has any say in how tall they are and ISU is fortunate that Reeves is 5-7 so he ended up in Ames.

Re: Williams Blog: Heavy hitters told Reeves he was too small

I think Reeves has been picked on a little, but on a couple of the plays where teams threw over him the receiver pushed him in the back when he was up in the air. If the officials are not going to call this then his height will continue to be a problem.

Give it a few years and we'll have height implants.

He was good enough for CPR to take a starting cornerback and move him to safety.

You should be since last year McNutt's results against teams that supposedly recruit 4 and 5 star athletes are as follows.

    vs OSU: 7 rec, 97yds, 1td
    vs WIS: 7 rec, 70yds, 1td
    vs PSU: 5 rec, 93yds, 0td
