Great article. I definitely agree with the environment factor. This game is a HUGE swing game for the season as far as momentum goes. If we win this game, we will have SWAGGER the rest of the way out, I don't care if it's OU we are facing, we will have it. I think Cyclone fans realize this as well (SOLD OUT stadium). It will be loud and crazy in the Jack!!!
1AA - Whip it out! Don't have an inferiority complex because we're playing the Longhorns. Trust that those Longhorns are over-compensating for something. Gotta play like we're the one's with the big swinging dicks, 'cus we are!
Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:
'Struck by a Cyclone
It Comes from Iowa and Devastates Evanston Town'
#5 is a big one. No matter what... great start, so-so start, or horrible start... the crowd has to be a factor. How many times do you hear a coach for the visiting team after a win say that a big key to the victory was taking the crowd out of the game early? Nearly 100% of the time. It matters. Hopefully on Saturday night no matter what kind of start the Clones get off to in this game the crowd must continue to be a factor. Texas is young and this will be a very hostile environment for them.... CycloneNation can't let these guys off of the hook that easy. Pour it on Texas all game long because eventually they will crack, lose focus, get frustrated, and make mistakes. 60 minutes.... let those Texas players know that they are not welcome in Cyclone Country!
The pass interceptions will be the determinant. We do not seem to intercept much and we cannot afford passes bouncing off receivers for interceptions. I thought UCONN backs were excellent in jumping the lanes. Maybe we need to throw over the receivers shoulder more. Hope the TEs have a decent day cathcing.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style.
