Dont give up on our guys!!!
We only have lost one game this season lets not give up on them. Our attendance has been the best it has been in years lets not get to down after one bad game against a good team we played down to. The one thing that Iowa fans do better than us is go to games even when the team is not playing well. So when A&M comes to town lets have this teams back and PACK THE JACK!!!!

Re: Dont give up on our guys!!!
I fully expect this team to win some games. Too much talent not to. If Rhoads can't get this team to 6 wins it will be a failure. I don't know that he ever will if we have to play 9 conference games every year.
That said, I think he is a great coach and this team is going to surprise.

Re: Dont give up on our guys!!!
I don't think anyone has given up on the team. You hear all sorts of things immediately after a loss, especially one that we could have won. After a few days and cooler heads prevail, I'm pretty sure everyone is still 100 percent on board with this team and staff.

Re: Dont give up on our guys!!!
I agree...I hope the place continues to be full. I know beautiful Fall days are much more appealing then the falling temps...but if you have season tickets and can't go, give them to a friend or a family that's never been.
We want the norm to be Jack Trice is a loud place.....a few bare spots in the upper deck isn't horrible, but you can't tell me a rocking place doesn't get the Jake Knotts of the world to get their motor rolling even faster which equals more victories.
GO Cyclones!

Re: Dont give up on our guys!!!
a big PS to all of you... the lack of future attendance will have NOTHING to do with the Texas game. It will have everything to do with how the team does against Baylor and Mizzou. I gurantee you that the crowd is sick again if we go 2-0 in next 2 weeks... go 0-2 and will have more to do with us losing 3 in a row then losing to Texas. so it isnt just one game. never will be. Win, people will keep coming gurantee it.
losing and weather are the only two things that keep people from coming.
keep winning and all will be fine.

I really think this team will bounce back in a major way against Baylor.

Re: Dont give up on our guys!!!
I haven't given up. In fact, even though it was frustrating as hell to watch, I came away from the Texas game with some encouragement. We know what our problem is, it's turnovers, and if we can knock that **** off we can play with anyone, I really believe that. We have a winning defense, they've been put in terrible positions time and again and they have responded in a big way. Stop turning the ball over and this team is bowl-bound, I firmly believe that now. And this coming from a guy who predicted a 4-8 season.

NOBODY here is giving up on them. I think most of us are just frustrated over the fact we keep making the same dumb mistakes time after time.

Re: Dont give up on our guys!!!
I re-watched the Texas game last night on Clone Zone and was actually encouraged. Obviously, the penalties and turnovers killed us, but if you watch individual drives and plays, it's clear that ISU was doing very well.
Now, I'm not saying that you can just overlook penalties and turnovers, but I am saying that this is a very talented team. If ISU played Texas again this weekend in Ames, I would still feel like we have a chance.
The other thing I noticed is how awesome the run game is coming together with White. He hits the hole quickly and has some nice moves. I see him as the starter now with SJ getting slightly less carries.

The defense is good, potentially very good if we can limit putting them in near impossible field position situations.
I'm hoping that the turnovers are just inexperience and that we see less of it over time. The penalties (especially the bonehead variety) which result in first downs and momentum changes obviously need to get cleaned up in a major way. Time will tell.
As far as attendance goes, let's keep things real. A performance like what we did with Texas just lets the air out of the balloon for 'on the fence' fans. They aren't signing up twice to get kicked in the stones. Those types won't be back, so we need to rally the core fans and fight from here on out. We will need to win the next two games in order to get close to 56K again and then it's doubful.

Texas may be really really good, but if you are going to develop a following you
must show you can compete with the best your conference has to offer.
When was the last time ISU beat a ranked conference opponent at home?
Nebraska they were close last year but I don't think ISU has beat a ranked conference
opponent at home since 2002 have they?
The team on the other side of the state has some ridiculous streak of never losing
a game by more the 7 or 10 points. There fans know even if they are not a great team they will be in every game week in and week out.
With ISU its still a crap shoot.
