    Tonight's Coin Toss

Question for tonights game Cyclone fans. Do the Cyclones want to receive the opening kickoff to set the tempo for tonight's game. Or do we want to defer so our D can stop Baylor first. I think last week we should have differed to the second half so our D could stop them early and give us good field position, as field position was crucial last week.

However, this week I would have to say we want to have the ball first so we can try a grind it out long drive to start the game out and put Baylor in a hole for them to dig out of.

    What is your opinion?

I'd say when you are playing an offense like Baylor you want to get the ball first and get momentum while you can.

I would take the ball first if we won the toss. Keep RG3 off the field as long as possible. Hopefully get in the endzone and get the D some momentum.

Put the defense on the field so they can try to remember what it's like to not take the field at their own 25 yard line?

Started on offense against Iowa and Texas (don't remember if we won the toss against TX)...so I would say
we'd like to shake the 1st quarter monkey and start aggressively on offense.

I think this is a no brainer. I would expect either team winning the toss to take the ball tonight.

Take the ball.. Keep it out of Baylors hands as long as you can. I just want this game to be watchable into the second half.

Although this is good logic too.

Take it in the second half.

It is pretty apparently we will waste that first offensive possession to start the game.

    Re: Tonight's Coin Toss

Defer. Let's give our defense at least one chance with decent field position. Also, with the way our offense has been playing in the first half, I think that we want to ensure as many 2nd half possessions as possible.

    Re: Tonight's Coin Toss

This has me confused as well. The obvious choice is for ISU to take the ball first and try to drive down and score right off the bat to give BU something to dig out of. But then again I think our D is good enough to force either a 3 and out or a punt after 1 first down which in return would give us decent field position and alot of momentum.

Id just hate for us to go 3 and out on the first possession and give RGIII a short field for their first TD. I've seen ISU do it too many times and never be able to recover from it...

I just assume that us getting the ball first is the best way to give Baylor momentum.

    Re: Tonight's Coin Toss

I think Baylor should get the ball first. Jantz seems to be good at comebacks. Considering our first quarter woes I say let them have it first. Give the defense a chance to a make a play or two and if Baylor scores then maybe we can have some motivation to tie it.

That also gives us the ball to start the 2nd half. During the season we have outscored opponents 17-16 in the 3rd and have been outscored 33-0 in the 1st. Which quarter do you want to play offense in?
