    Extra Point Woes

What happened on our extra points? It is easy to jump on the kicker, but was it really a problem with the snap or the hold? I haven't seen replays to know exactly what happened.

I wondered if he planted his foot wrong. It seemed like lots of guys were having little problems with their ankles and knees which made me wonder if they were having problems with deeper spikes because of the threat of rain that never came.

Anybody have video that shows what actually went wrong?

Isn't Baylor's field an artificial surface? Do they change spike sizes on turf?

Also I haven't seen the replay, but I think WRNL made some comment about how Mahoney jumped into the air and kicked the top half of the ball or something.

    Would love to see video.

Our field goal kicking is a mess right now. Off topic, you have 1 more post before 1,000 so make it good!
“I told you, I don’t care if you’re black or white. I don’t care if you’re rich or poor. I don’t care where you come from, whether it’s Texas, Florida, California, or right here in the state of Iowa, I don’t care about any of that… But what I did care about is moving forward from that day on, that we were one team." -Paul Rhoads

It did not appear to be a hold problem. It appears to be soccer style can't hit the right spot to make a somewhat straight ball problem. It has been going on since last year.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style.

Actually, it may have been my fault. I looked at my dad for the first one and said, "He's going to miss this, it would make the day complete."

The second one, I knew was going to be missed, I was surprised how close it was.

I also prayed to God and my prayers were not answered. It went like a missile off the side of his foot. It was ugly. I think the refs put a bad Wilson football in play. I have never seen an extra point kicked like that before. The announcers thought it has been blocked. We knew better.

"Mahoney is Finkle. Finkle is Mahoney... Laces out Dan!" Seriously, whenever our kickers come on to the field now, that's what pops into my head. "Laces Out!" At least I can laugh about it now.

Do any other football fans in the world sweat out extra points like we have to? I submit that they do not.

Has anyone let CPR know that we need to upgrade the talent at the kicker position? I'm just saying.

    Re: Extra Point Woes

Honestly, Kirby probably would not have a problem making extra points. Try him out and every other 4th down that is in field goal range we might as well just go for.

I was unable to watch the game because I was at a ******* wedding reception and text my buddy because I kept seeing missed extra points on the gamecast. Here is our converstion:

Me: We getting extra points blocked or just missing? You should go back and kick and I will hold, you were money. (My buddy, not a kicker, would kick field goals all the time in high school for the fun of it and was actually really good. Probably because I was an awesome holder.)

Him: Oh Brent. They are not only missing them, it looks like Mahoney is kicking blindfolded with both of his legs amputated.

Me: Holy ****, lol. There is a paraplegic here dominating the dance floor in her wheelchair at the wedding. Maybe we could offer her a scholly and be better off?

Him: Lol, no chance of ankle injury....

Kicking issues are nothing new and something we have all witnessed for entirely to long. I know some people say mechanics, but I'm pretty sure half the people on the team could make an extra point consistently. Our kickers are so head jacked right now it's not even funny.

I just watched the high quality video of the onside kickoff. Let's give Mahoney credit for a great onside kick. He had the Baylor guys running backward to block and none of them seemed to know what he was doing.
