Oh god, don't say Fine when talking about offense in the Big XII. It's bad, but it could be worse.

He will be gone next year, and there has to be something for jp to sell. If he isn't, and look for 30k attendance next year.

I don't see a coaching change as a selling point.

In order to see a bump in ticket sales due to replacing an OC we'd have to pull in the top OC in the nation (whoever that is).

Re: Herman is not a bad coach

Herman is a terrible play caller. He is predictable and seems to refuse changing anything. If it isn't working, you need to find something else. He doesn't do that. He calls the same plays in the same situations and usually they aren't working. ISU should be 0-6 because of bad offensive calls. Steele Jantz and the defense in the first three games won those games single handily. Kansas is the only game ISU has a chance in and I have a bad feeling. Colorado was god awful last season until ISU came to town. KU vs ISU will be the battle to see who is the worst team in the Big 12. Bad offenses vs bad defenses.

Re: Herman is not a bad coach

I have been reserving judgment, but I have to admit that my confidence is falling in him. We have had terrible injuries this year and don't yet have the depth of talent to deal with them. I don't think we have a BigXII talent at TE and our WRs are probably the bottom two in the conference. That said, we seem to be very predictable and not doing much schematically to keep the defense guessing.

My confidence is falling on our defense too. That's two games in a row where I thought we had a terrible plan. I foolishly thought we might have a top half of the conference defense, but they seem to be wearing down and losing confidence from continually being put in impossible situations by the turnovers.

We're not very good and that gets you KILLED in our league. We'll fight with KU and probably win it at home, but I seriously doubt we'll be within 2 TDs of anyone else.

Re: Herman is not a bad coach

If you're Iowa State, you absolutely can not run the same offense as everyone else in the league, only with slower players. It will get you killed, and it's been proven 3 weeks in a row now.

We might be able to compete in the Big 10 or BE where our team speed would be comparable.

But in the B12, ISU needs to be able to slow the game down and win time of possession to have a chance. To me, that means more of a power running game or pro-style, or something that no one else is running in the league.

3 and outs while taking only 30 seconds off the clock is asking for **** loads of trouble, which is exactly what's happening.
