I like the idea of keeping a weekend of hoops in KC alive. It would be fun for the fans and could be good for recruiting. I wonder if some mid-majors would be up for coming to KC to play 3 Big 12 teams in 3 days. That could be interesting and be worthy of some TV $ too.
The downside is the loss of home games (revenue) and additional travel expenses.

Have it somewhere in Kansas City, KS just to rub it in a little bit more how bad Mizzou f'd over KC, MO.

Re: Missouri just finished conference
Only at Mizzou would they attempt suicide over a two year process by shooting off their toes, starting with their little one.
With a crossbow.
Apparently, when they say "Show Me" they are talking about the door, because those nuts sure can't seem to find it on their own.
It's surprising, since every Missourian with full (8th grade) education knows that you can't spell "Ecsit" without S-E-C.
Here, I'll help: "Hey Missouri! Turn right. No, your other right. Now go straight until you hit you hit Illinoise. Now turn right again. (Your other right!) Now go straight until you hit Alabama. That's the way to total obscurity!"
[To which the Missourian will reply - "Sweet! A monthly check from the Social Obscurity Office! Free money!"]

Re: Missouri just finished conference
I like the idea of the tournament in KC involving ISU, KSU, and KU while excluding Mizzou. Kansas City doesn't owe Mizzou a damn thing and truth be told if the city has another option which will generate far more attendance and revenue it would be a great opportunity for KC to tell Mizzou to shove it up their ***. -
Re: Missouri just finished conference
Like the idea of a KU/KState/Iowa State bball tourney. Have each team face another team from a power conference: (Iowa State vs Purdue, Kansas vs Duke, K-State vs UCLA). Could be great.
It's too bad that we'd be trying to give Mizzou a big ole "F U." Otherwise we could have the Big 8 Christmas classic featuring a triple header of Iowa State, Kansas State and KU versus CU/Nebby/Mizzou.
Year 1:
Iowa State vs. Nebraska
Kansas vs. Mizzou
K-State vs Colorado
Year 2:
Iowa State vs. Colorado
Kansas vs. Nebraska
K-State vs Mizzou
Year 3:
Iowa State vs. Mizzou
Kansas vs. Nebraska
K-State vs Colorado
Could have been cool... but **** Mizzou.
For "I", for "S", forever!
For Iowa State all the way.
Let's go! To show them what the gang's all here for,
Go! To show them how the Cyclones cheer.
For "I", for "S", forever!
For Iowa State do it right!
It's time to climb up on the vict'ry wagon,
Fight! Iowa State, Fight! Fight! -

Could have been cool... but **** Mizzou. I don't know why but I wouldn't mind Colorado getting an invite to that KC party. As for Mizzou and Nebby.... ****'em. Colorado on the other hand is a far better fit in the Pac 12, not really a "midwestern" team, etc.... Colorado pretty much gets a free pass in all of this which I do find kind of hilarious.

Missouri translation:
Well I, I say now boy. That them there Coloooradah school, theys be kind of like your cousin, I mean sister, I, I mean girlfriend. Aw shawks. Nah ya here me boy. She just a little dif'unt from the rest yall family. That girl has em herself some mighty fine pearly whites. A galdum full set! 'Ell I be. She don't belong with the rest of us.
On second thought, maybe Mizzou SHOULD go as well.

They're as ****** off as anyone about this crap Missouri is pulling and has done more petitioning than anyone else to keep them in conference.

Re: Missouri just finished conference
Prediction:
Mizz-urr-uh's first decade in the SEC is revenue-neutral; they receive less from the conference in their first 2 years than they would have in the Big 12, and when the SEC finally does renegotiate a TV contract, any financial benefit to MU will be used to pay off the exit fee levied by the Big 12.
Home attendance falls or, at best, stays even. Tiger fans bemoan having to travel to SC for road games, but there's NO WAY IN HELL that UF, UGA, and Tennessee fans travel halfway across the country to see a game at tiny-*** Farout Field in the middle-of-nowhere dump hole excuse for a city that is Columbia. Their two closest divisional opponents, Kentucky and Vanderbilt, aren't exactly barn-burners, so don't expect sell-outs for those games, either.
Recruiting in Texas absolutely dries up, especially with aTm in a different division. New inroads to Florida recruits will be nonexistent; no kids from Florida want to live a thousand miles away in hickville when they could play for just about any other SEC team and get a better deal.
MU gets absolutely slaughtered in their first few years. Their aerial assault offense won't fly (pun intended) in the SEC, and MU's defense will get completely shredded by teams with dominant running games. MU's style of play will have to drastically change. Maybe Pinkel and company figure this out in a few years, but by then they'll be struggling to get talent as their old recruiting beds will have run dry and recruits don't want to play for a perennial loser.
Overall, Mizz-uhh-ruh will have a losing record over 10 years. Maybe 2-3 Poulan bowls, but that's it. Pinkel will have moved on if he's smart, and have been fired if he's not. And the Big 12 will not only still hate you, but will be laughing at you now, too.

The fees are withheld by the B12 from their conference revenue distribution.

Actually 810 in KC kind of floated this idea today about KCK being more aggressive and perhaps enticing the Chiefs to play in a new state of the art stadium across from the race track and/or building an arena out there as well.
While KCMO is mad as hell about this whole thing, they are on the MO side of the line and could get squeezed. KS will show no mercy. KS already poached AMC theaters, once a longtime downtown tenant. Not sure if the move was in anyway related to longterm implications of no more B12 BB tournament and the potential slow death spiral of the P&L district.

<2-years but >18-months = forfeit of 70% of 2-year revenue equivalent
