Or, a better question, why the **** did I response to a crazygreg post?
On offense, losing:
*Osemele and Hicks on the offensive line. Farniok, Tuftee, Bykowski, and Lichtenberg (the four who've seen serious time) are coming back.
*Reynolds and Darks at receiver. Lenz and Horne are back, as well as everyone else. Literally. There are 19 WRs on this roster and only two are graduating.
*No one from the backfield. Every single QB and RB on the roster is returning.
On defense, losing:
*Lattimer, Neal, and Ruempolhamer on the d-line. This could hurt our already questionable line play. Alternatively you could argue that it can't really get that much worse. But I think Lattimer's pass rushing and Ruempolhamer's ability in the middle will be missed.
*Tau'fo'ou from the LBs. Could hurt, but other than that, our best unit will be back in force. A huge plus if someone fills his shoes.
*LJ and Benton from the secondary. Obviously a big blow here as well.
Of course we are losing Guyer and Mahoney in the kicking game but keeping Van Der Kamp for punts. I definitely am of the opinion that kicking can't get much worse so no loss there.
All in all I think we will need some people to step up big on defense more than anything, but if we also get some good offensive line play next year, we could put up quite a few points.
Does anyone know how Pompey is doing?
As for the schedule its anyone's guess how it will play out. We may need to schedule another non conference game if Mizzou is out and can leave for the 2012 season. There are a few sure bets with the schedule, all but the chance of gaining another non conference games will stay the same for the non conference. Also, we will for sure have OU/KSU at home and KU on the road, those are the sure bets, but after that the schedule is up for a change according to Neinas.
Loses that will hurt
Offense: KO, Hicks, and Reynolds
Defense: Rump, Benton, and Leonard
Losing Lattimer, Neal, and Taufaloo are replaceable. If Pompey can be good, we won't miss Rump much either. Jake McD has been really solid. Leonard Johnson is the biggest loss by far
We are going to be a larger team in the Secondary and at WR as time passes. Still a couple of years away from real improvement, but I think it is coming. Also, looking forward to Richardson and Rohach battling for QB. Daniels at WR could be awesome as well.
The biggest improvements for next year have to be at DL, WR and QB, basically the same positions that needed major improvement this year.
Who do we have returning in the secondary?
