I was thinking about what ISU returns next year
and I was feeling pretty positive about next years team, especially the defensive side of the ball if we can get someone to replace Leonard Johnson at corner. I feel like Rhoads has really improved the defense since the beginning of last year. The offense needs to find a few new lineman and it would be nice if someone at WR would step up also.
But............then I looked at what rest of the league is returning. There are a ton of returning starters for every team, Ok I didn't bother to look up Kansas. This league is going to be very tough again next year. I think everyone besides OSU returns their QB also.

Landry will enjoy the NFL.

Re: I was thinking about what ISU returns next year
The big 12 as a whole is still pretty young but I think we'll be solid next year if we can get consistent QB play. That and the oline are my only real worries for next year. The schedule sets up nicer next year with a lot of winnable home games.
The only bigger turnoff than finding out a woman smokes, is finding out she's a Husker fan. -
Re: I was thinking about what ISU returns next year
Lets face it the WR's need a lot of improvement and are a question mark on offense also.

It's always about "next year" with ISU football. I wish it wasn't so.

My gut says
4-6 wins

Sat, Sep 15 Western Illinois Ames, Iowa TBA
Sat, Sep 29 Texas * at Austin, Texas TBA
Sat, Oct 06 Baylor (Family Weekend) * Ames, Iowa TBA
Sat, Oct 13 Missouri * Ames, Iowa TBA
Sat, Oct 20 TCU * at Fort Worth, Texas TBA
Sat, Oct 27 Texas Tech (Homecoming) * Ames, Iowa TBA
Sat, Nov 03 at Kansas * at Lawrence, Kan. TBA
Sat, Nov 10 Oklahoma * Ames, Iowa TBA
Sat, Nov 17 Oklahoma State * at Stillwater, Okla. TBA

Make sure you don't call the charge. But make sure you call the foul on the scrum.... -

Potentially winnable home games against Tulsa, Western Illinois, Baylor, Missouri, and Tech (maybe K-State, depending on how the rest of this year shakes out). Potentially winnable road games at Iowa, Texas, and Kansas.
Still going to be very tough to find 6 wins on that schedule. Hopefully we have a QB worth something, WRs that can make some plays, and an improved OL/DL. And a reliable kicker, for a change.

Sat, Nov 24 Kansas State * Ames, Iowa TBA That schedule is great, we get wins over: Tulsa, W Ill, Baylor, Mizzu (or their replacement), TCU, KU, OSU, KSU. With a win over Nebby in the Insight bowl) -> 9-4 finished ranked #23. Just remember you heard it here first!
