    d-line recruiting

coming into this season, i thought the d-line was the area we needed to recruit the heaviest. with hayes commiting, that gives us 4 DEs! 3 out of high school and 1 juco. perfect! these guys all seem pretty athletic and have great size, so any of them could switch to DT if needed. looking like our d-line could be pretty good down the line! i want to see a line like we had a while back with guys like berryman and curvey. we need to find guys to step up as big time pass rushers! my hats off to the coaching staff for going out and getting these guys!

These guys have the size and potential to be one of the best lines since the Earle Bruce era if they develop well.

    Re: d-line recruiting

With today's spread offenses it's very difficult to be successful if you don't have an athletic d-line that can put pressure on the QB and mix it up with some coverages. this is great news. I don't follow recruiting much but after every signing day I usually scan the list for DE's and am usually disappointed. I hope this is the start of something consistent and special.

Meyers is a DT. Aka could end up at DT, TE, or OL, and Bevins is basically in the same boat. Nice DL class.

What he said. And I'm pretty sure the coaches aren't done recruiting yet, considering how many DL complete their eligibility after next season--McDonough, Laing, Simon, Caspers, Maggitt, Nelson...am I forgetting someone?

And if Hayes brings his teammate along, we'll know who's replacing Tau'fo'ou in the middle!

    Re: d-line recruiting

The shortest D-Lineman in the last 2 classes is Pompey at 6'3". All seem to have good athletisism and I'm completely convinced that our line in 2013 will be the best we've ever seen at ISU, although Reggie Hayward and company or Big Play Curvey and the 2005 group might have something to say about that.
