I wish Jantz was our freshman and Barnett was our Juco.

Re: This is Barnetts' team
Herman finally found someone to run his offense somewhat effectively.

Re: This is Barnetts' team
I watched the game again last night ... Barnett does a great job with the zone read. Passing is suspect... lots of balls thrown into a LOT of traffic. He is fortunate. But he is checking off receivers. He will only improve. Two areas that will easily take him to the next level is understanding where the pressure is coming from and figuring out a better match up on where it is safe to throw the ball.
I give his performance at a A-. you score 40+ on the road on your first start AND win, you get noting less than an A-.

Re: This is Barnetts' team
Steele looked like he was staying positive in his new role last night, which is great. We'll surely need him again at some point.

Re: This is Barnetts' team
Despite his completion percentage, not turning the ball over and sustaining drives makes us a whole different team on BOTH sides of the ball.

-keep An A- is less than an A. That's why it has the minus.

Re: This is Barnetts' team
Barnett deserves to be the starter until he gives Paul Rhoads a reason to pull him.
And Barnett surely has not given Rhoads any reason to bench him... far from it IMO.
I do feel comfortable that Jantz could come in if needed and do a decent job, but this offense just looks "different", in a good way, with Barnett out there.
I think Barnett runs the read option so much more effective than Steele did. It was almost as if Steele decided before the snap if he was going to hand it off or not, but Barnett actually reads the DE and then makes the snap decision like you are supposed to.
And if you get the running game going effectively with the read option, then the passing game just gets that much easier.

Re: This is Barnetts' team
What we are seeing reminds of what we had going under Arnaud. Barnett is a step quicker and faster whereas Arnaud was kind of an H-back when he took off and ran but overall it's very similar.
No doubts that the offense responds to him and it provides confidence when the guy running the show doesn't have multiple game-changing turnovers. A lot of second teamers in throughout the game on the OL, so it was nice to see different players contributing.

Re: This is Barnetts' team
I really don't care who the starter is as long as they put the team in the best position to win. With that said, JB sure seems more efficient running the offense and most importantly takes care of the ball. The defense sure looks a lot more fresh when they are not on the field constantly. Even in the A&M game, JB was not spectacular, but he kept us in the game.
