What are we going to do if by chance Barnett pisses down his leg and ISU happens to lose to Kansas? This is a team game! Always has been and always will be. The offensive line has been pretty much horrible all season until the Tech game where they actually dominated someone like they should have all season.
It wasn't Jantz's fault nor Barnett's fault when all of the receivers dropped sure passes. That has to be corrected now. Until the Tech game, the defense was getting ******* slapped all around the field when it came to the running game. Hell, Leonard Johnson hasn't done jack diddly poo all season. The defense looked like utter crap until the Tech game. Remember that folks!
Root for Barnett and help him make the transition. Help him beat Kansas and help the rest of the team also. Just don't come back on here if by chance ISU loses to Kansas and ***** and complain about Barnett. Pick a side and stick to it people. I've picked a side and it's the Cyclones! I don't care who's starting just win.

Re: Now the big question...
First off I am of the opinion Steele is hurt. Something is wrong with him, I think some time off is a good thing for him in this case. I mean did you see the play calling tonight vs when Steele was playing, total night and day. Maybe he doesn't run the read option as well, but still. It was like Herman knew he was hurt or something and was limited.
Second, most of the time when we are on offense we have the dominant player on the field, and that is Keleche Freaking Osemele.. Why we haven't been slamming that off tackle play up his big fat butt all year I have no idea, but we finally did tonight. Tech had NO answer for him, he literally made them look like idiots. And honestly, I am not sure anyone has an answer for the big fella. We really have to use him more instead of throwing some **** ant bubble screen out there and completely eliminating him from the play. he is just a monster on run blocking.
We need to just keep pounding off his big butt till they stop it. For some reason it takes Herman awhile to figure out that we can run the ball. I was critical of Herman in the past couple weeks, and tonight he looked like a genius. Fascinating what happens when you use your strengths isn't it.
End Rant.

Great post. + 1,000,000. Why some fans get a boner for eating their own I will never understand.
Support the team. Support the players. I'm sure the coaching staff, no matter how much of the criticism leveled their way is fair or not, know a HELL of a lot more about the game than any of you armchair quarterbacks who decide to start a ridiculous thread ripping our former starting quarterback after the biggest victory of the season against a ranked team on the road.
Nice one UNIGuy4Cy, looks like you got another one of your "LOOK AT ME!!!" threads going again.

Re: Now the big question...
I don't think we beat UNI or Iowa with Barnett.
I don't think we beat TTU with Jantz.
This season has worked out strange, but we've found ways to get productive QB play when we really need it out of two different players. Enjoy the win.

But it also appears to me there is a difference in the way the team responds, Jantz vs Barnett. It seems to me the team plays with more enthusiasm with Barnett at the helm. Last week, when he came in, I was struck with how the line fired out with more energy and purpose than before he came in. And, the TT game was, without question, our best O-line play of the season thusfar. Is Barnett the real leader of this team, or am I imagining things again?

Your are so right my friend we are at 4 wins right now but, if...........
We would have had a running attack , like last nite....
We would be sitting at 6 Wins right now.....

Re: Now the big question...
Bottom line - Jantz was a slow starter and was very turnover prone. Barnett so far does not appear to be turnover prone. Head coaches who were defensive coordinators, by nature, hate turnovers by their offense.

Re: Now the big question...
Im not going to bag on Jantz cuz if the outcome had been different everyone would be on here talking about when Jantz cud come back....lets not forget the kids playing hurt and if the coaches thought they were going to get this kind of play out of Barnett, why didnt they go to him earlier.....everyones surprised and happily so!!!!
Bottom line, we had great offensive night against the 114th ranked rushing defense in the ncaa.....we did what we should have...exploited it!!!!!
I thought the biggest flaw i saw in Barnetts game and something i think could come around was longer routes. His passes were not catchable. With the rushing attack we had tonight, it would have made anyones passing better as those linebackers and safeties were in there having to make tackles the open areas on the field get a lot bigger.
Dont misunderstand my overall ecstatic approval of the teams execution....it was nearly flawless tonight. How many penalties did we have....not nearly what we had been averaging....
Lastly - The defense did a REMARKABLE job...wow....to hold tech to 7 points regardless of the ground and pound beating that ISU put on them, this defense still did something that not many teams do.....they shut down the 7th ranked offense in the ncaa!!!!
Now lets get ready for next week and get to at least 7 wins!!!!
Oh by the way, we're still rated as having the #2 schedule in the nation, if you can get 7 wins out of that schedule, i wonder how many people would be on here bashing Rhoads like a week ago!!!!!
