F it, lets talk about bowls
Yeah, Yeah, I know I'm putting the cart ahead of the horse here, but why not? If we're bowl eligible, where are we looking at going?
Just because I don't want to go to NY in the winter (bowl games are supposed to be warm), let's say the Big 12 fills all its bowl slots before getting to ISU.
BCS-OSU
BCS-OU
Cotton-KSU
Alamo-TAMU
Insight-Texas
Holiday-Baylor
Texas-TT
Pinstripe-MU
Looks like BBVA Compas (Birmingham), Fight Hunger (San Fran), Military (DC), Little Cesar's (Detroit), Potato (Boise) and New Mexico (Albuqurque) have potential openings from conferences not filling their bowl tie-ins.
For me, best case scenario would probably be San Francisco on NYE if not a Big 12 tie-in.
Re: F it, lets talk about bowls
Nice to see the cool-aide flowing again. After last weekend, who can blame you?
Re: F it, lets talk about bowls
I wouldn't mind Fight Hunger Bowl or Little Ceasar's bowl.
Re: F it, lets talk about bowls
Who wouldn't wanna go to Detroit in December? Not. Nothing will beat the Tempe bowl game 2 years ago. NYE in tempe was ballin
Re: F it, lets talk about bowls
Missouri's win @A&M was huge for them as I don't think they'd go to a bowl game without that one.

It'd be sweet. We could all go and visit the "Hardcore Pawn" place.

Who would want to go to Detroit period??
Let's assume we won't get placed in that one...
...oh...and uh...this Kool-Aid is delicious

Did you miss lunch?
Re: F it, lets talk about bowls
I paid a lot of attention to open bowl-tie ins last year, although it turned out for no good reason.
Anyways, last year there weren't many open spots. It was almost certain that after the season ended last year we would've ended up in one of two places as a 6-6 bowl team.
1. Albuquerque, NM for the New Mexico bowl OR
2. Detroit for the Pizza bowl.
Not to say that last year's situation has anything to do with this year, but you are right that if ISU goes 6-6 all the Big 12 bowl slots will already be filled because ISU would be the 9th bowl eligible team from 10 teams.

Could ISU jump over Big XII teams? Like in 2009 when the Insight.com bowl selected the Cyclones over Mizzou.

not if we only have 6 wins, and there are enough 7+ win teams to fill the Big 12's allotment. They have to take 6 win teams last, I believe.
Re: F it, lets talk about bowls
I wouldn't pencil in Texas Tech and Baylor into bowl games yet. Especially Tech. They've already played us and Kansas so the rest of the way will be tough games. Baylor still needs 2 more.
Re: F it, lets talk about bowls
Read on Twitter Sunday that the Big 12 picks up the bid for the Military bowl since Navy didn't make it. Looks like outside KU, as long we hit 6 wins we will be bowling.
Re: F it, lets talk about bowls
I'm picking the Hawkeyes to go to Detroit. What a destination for Christmas!
Re: F it, lets talk about bowls
San Fran sounds like the best opportunity of the non-Big 12 bowls. Might help get us a little more exposure for our Cali recruiting. Relatively cheap flights, too, being a major destination.
