Barnett grabs biggest story in today's Dallas Morning News

Every day I get up and immediately peruse the Dallas Morning News sports page hoping for a decent Iowa State story. This morning, for the first time I ever remember, Iowa State had the biggest headline/story/pic for the day's college sports stories.

I realize that it's because Barnett is a Garland High School star but still, it's the first time in 30 years of reading the Dallas Morning News that Iowa State has had the largest college sports story of the day.

It's practically free recruiting advertising for us: "Are you you a talented TX HS football player being ignored by Texas and OU? Would you like a full page spread in a Dallas newspaper? Come to Iowa State!"

These wins in the state of Texas are big deal when it comes to recruiting. The win against Texas last year got a lot of recruits attention, and I'm sure the Tech win will only add to that. Beating Iowa is nice, but these wins are the real program changers.

What would have been nice is actual picture of Texas Tech game where he won the game for us.

The byline is from Ames by Andrew Logue so I'd guess that the original story is available in the local Ames paper or GoCyclones (whatever that is).

It refers in the article to the Texas game and how before that win on the road we hadn't beaten a ranked opponent for about 20 years. Nebraska really wasn't ranked when we beat them in Lincoln? I really thought they were.
